The counting game

no, more likely just hurt feelings. or even more uncertainty. i'm lost. anyway, i've improved that manga drawing and started on a second which i talked about earlier.

Now you know why I avoid girls - they tend to drive you insane. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Anyways - good news on the PoTC front: my friend brought his copy over today, and I've been playing the game like crazy for about the last five hours <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> . Methinks my mind is certifiably lost <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" /> .

For some reason, he still refuses to either sell me his copy or just give it to me, even though he doesn't play the game anymore - don't know why this is. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_confused.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="icon_confused.gif" /> Maybe it's some kind of sentimental thing to him, or something.

He mentioned he's got a box of pc games from the mid to late 90's, and he's willing to sell it to me for twenty bucks. Problem is, I won't know what the games are until I get the box from him - although he did mention there's an original boxed Carmageddon in there somewhere <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> . What should I do?

<i>Games from the late '90s, I would pass.</i> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dp_nogd.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ng" border="0" alt="dp_nogd.gif" />

games from that time aren't too bad, actually. but i always look at gameplay, not graphics, because i simply have a complete inability to play games with decent graphics. i have a whole lot of games from 1998 and such, which are usually kinda fun. PotC with the mods works without a CD. there's the key. or you could just borrow it without asking and give it back after installing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> not sure if i'd do it, but i could pull it off.

i've just had one of those surges of brilliance (ego, ego. ahem)! turns out i can turn that manga drawing into a picture of that second girl i mentioned without too much effort. heh.

By the looks of most new games, we aren't missing anything. Heck, the companies seem to have forgotten what the term "optimization" means - sure, this machine'll run Oblivion...AT 0.5 FPS! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> . I agree - graphics really aren't everything; developers seem to keep forgetting the good gameplay ingredient in their products nowadays.

The PoTC CD crack happens to be what I'm using - that would explain why my friend still has his copy <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/user_comment.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="user_comment.gif" /> . Are there more ships in Build 13 Final than in Build 13 Update 3? I haven't yet seen the same ship twice in any battle.

<i>No, graphics aren't everything. But going back ten years is a lifetime and you may find yourself not touching any of those games.</i>

3691

That's exactly what I'm afraid of <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> I think I'll just keep the money. Aside from that, I still don't trust him - don't know why, though.

<i>Your right, he probably just wants to hang onto that game (POTC) even though he may not play it again. Hope you can get your own copy.</i>

3693

aaaaagh, i have SO many ideas for drawings buzzing round in my head! they must come out! i've you're an artist, poetry-writer or something like that, you might know what i mean. it's the unresistable urge to create.

well, if he doesn't want to tell you what games are inside the mysterious box, i wouldn't trust him either. it's too suspicious. but i was alwyays exessively paranioa to people i don't know.

3694

I guess if that's the case, I can understand where he's coming from - I've got more than a few games I haven't touched in ages but that I'd never consider selling.

I'll keep searching for my own copy of PoTC even though I copied the game off my friend's discs. I feel incredibly guilty now every time I play the game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" />

Maybe I'll find it sometime this summer - there's always piles of yard sales around here, and most usually have a box full of old PC games. The hunt for a Visa gift card has been completely fruitless, with anyone I've asked saying they've never heard of the cards.

my new source if inspiration is in fact one i laid down a few days ago: steampunk. i've discovered i'm really good at drawing those WW I aviator outfits.

hehehe, that's the advantage of the lack of a conscience. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> though i seem to be developing one by now, i can switch it off at will. maybe one of the online markets has a copy.

3696

There's no shortage here of copies available online, but I've currently got no way of paying for one. Even if I had a credit card, I've got no job to speak of that I could count on to pay off the bill.

Speaking of a conscience, I seriously need to learn how to turn mine off. I don't know why playing PoTC bothers me so much, as its not like it's still being sold by the developers (ergo, no money loss for them). Oh well.

I nearly captured myself a bermuda sloop a few minutes ago, but the commander of redmond's fort decided I didn't need it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

3697

hmm... well, the reason that i can do it is probably because i don't think that others don't deserve it. that's just messed-up me. it's more like thinking they owe me something. yeah, i've had some serious mental damage to contend with in the past. but it's made me a better person than others, i noticed. like not seeing the fun in hurting others, usually in mental ways. i can switch my conscience off when it concerns people who like to hurt that way, or i just imagine it's someone like that if i don't know the person.

wrong flag? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

3698

Heh, yes, people who play mind games irritate me to no end, especially when they keep going after the same few people. That's usually the only time I mess with anyone, and usually by making statements that can be taken in more than one way, all the while ensuring my target gets the intended meaning. In some ways, I think I'm rather evil <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I've noticed that surrendered ships tend to be attacked by whatever party they haven't surrendered to. It's as if the attacker's saying: "If I can't have it, nobody can!". I was flying the Portugese flag at the time of the Redmond fort 'incident'.
