I know. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Time to move on. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> But to what? Should I go find another disturbing YouTube video to discuss? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Oh no - Derek Smart's releasing another damn Universal Combat game!! Everybody hide!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Why hide? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Most of his games are long, drawn-out crapfests. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> And they have unimaginably bad graphics - think a 1992 version of M&B type bad. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

i think i get the picture. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

And I bought one o'the bloody things - then it was released as Freeware a week later!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

yeah, i discovered that Risk II was released on reflexive a few months ago. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> and i bought it when it came out! the only advantage i have is that i have an intro clip and can save without creating a SAVE map first, which is a bug in the reflexive version.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> I have an original boxed copy of Risk II - I've never even opened it. I'm hoping it gets better with age, like fine wine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

well.... it's not that bad. i play it once in a while, but it never really sticks. i also have the older version, which is way better in my opinion. it's really rare. it's called Risk: ultimate, after one of the game modes. apart from the stock game, you also have a mode where you can use forts, a capitol, generals, and the terrain, as well as selectable tactics. there's a historical campaign mode, and you can now also play in europe, north america, asia, and a new-fangled world map.

I know what you mean - most games are lucky to last a month on my HD before I remove them from lack of use <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> . I've never seen a copy of the original Risk, though.

I've only ever had 3 games stay for longer than a month on my HD: PoTC, Tread Marks (tank racing and combat with the world's only fully destructible game environment), and good ol' MOFO (Mobile Forces). I'd include BF 1942 and Vietnam, but once you play through all the single-player maps 30+ times, it starts to get rather old <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> .

the time i've played a game for a long time has passed. i used to play my old games for months on end. now the challenge is kinda gone.

I know what you mean - I've actually uninstalled PoTC a number of times, but I keep coming back to it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

What's the best game intro video you've ever seen? I'd still have to say, for me at least, it's the one from Battlefield 1942:

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Oh no! Not again! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

it's getting boring, salty.

lemme think. broken sword 3, i'd say. mainly the first half. but the one that holds the most memories for me would be that of ceasar 3 and broken sword 1, though they're not that good. anyone who has played broken sword 1 will go all nostalgic when he hears that opening theme.

but of all in-game clips, the ones from praetorians would be my favorites. they're exceptionally well made, have good music, and great attention to detail.

concerning the music in praetorians, i've always thought that thios was one of the game's strongest points. though there are very few soundtracks, they're really long, and very good. you could compare them with braveheart, the prince of egypt, things like that. the music you hear in the egyptian clip looks a lot like the desert battle music.

Well, you guys won't be seeing me again until mid-August. I start studying for government exams today, and coincidentally, the fan on the graphics card finally died <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> . I'm using a little program called SpeedFan to make the machine's other fans run faster so I can post this - the card's just barely holding at 50 Celsius <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> .

Praetorians is a damn good game - it's one of the few I've gotten off P2P that I wish I had bought <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> .
