I am going to start a thread on making a proper Pre Build 13 after I'm done with this post. Then we can try to make one base version that works for everyone.

As for the Building Permit: You should leave those things be. If you loot a building (which you are not supposed to do in the first place), DON'T take the building permit from the character. This item is the item that makes the building show up. If you equip one of them, you might see a building floating around yourself. So, like it says in the item description: DON'T touch it! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

1) Could those Ship to Ship transfer crashes have anything to do with that ENGLISH file mixup I 've got at the moment ? I mean I have run "RunME.bat", "LangSwithEnabler.bat", ENGLISH, and maybe even Russian lately Could any of the other bugs I have reported be linked ? I also have been having alot of Names for Officers and People, with Russian alphabet letters !

The new boarding screens work fine! Took some getting used too, as they are really disorientating! They are COMPLETELY BLACK! So it is hard on the eyes to see and get your bearings, its too bad we could not tame the Deck down to Brown colored planking and make them look like normal ships ? Maybe this can be done and still leave a version for the Black Pearl, IF THESE are indeed, the decks that I assumed in my earlier posts are that ship! Thats why I thought this, because they were all completely BLACK

The first question is WHY? does gold always go to the very front, If we answer that we can duplicate this with other Items........THEORY only! 6) By the way is there anything else we can add from Slib or Corsairs III in the way of Islands, Buildings, Ships, Characters, Trees, etc Anything and Everything that makes "POTC +" better is a great thing

The Russian characters are probably caused because every character like á or ç or any non-default character is changed into a Russian character instead for the translation mod. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Those new boarding locations are not meant as the Black Pearl. Please have a look at attached pictures. Do they look like that? That's how it's supposed to look. Could you make a screenshot showing how yours look? (Press PrintScreen, then quit the game and press Paste in Paint).

I am sorry Pieter, I am trying to get that picture for you. I was on land last night when I quit, and was trying to clean up a little. Tried your suggestion first about the "English" folder mess up.....I pulled out the last post_build12 zip or rar, and copied only those files from textures/loading/English to the game here. Then I went and started taking my armor away from officers. Got 2 done, and switched one to another Officer skin, and it worked....Great!!! Then I went to switch some of my other Officers from other ships to get their Armor as well, but first I tried to Save!, so I would not lose what I had done in the way of Inventory cleanup. And the strangest thing happened, my save didn't return to the game.......nor did escape work, or the "exit" arrow....this happened to me yesterday, and so I just hit F1 to get too main menu, and then resumed game and kept going! Now I did this a couple of times, and then I had one of those crashes (ship to ship) and lost all my saves that I had from yesterdays play........went way back to the day before, where I didn't get those "not return automatically to game saves" after saving screens! So when I went to leave port today (just now) I got another of these, "spongey saves" I call them......so now I knew something was wrong.....went thru a gate, to go to the dock....and looked at 2 of my new officers to get their armor and guess what I found......Can't get any info on these...it is Blank!!!, and it seems that ALL my officers including me got them now instead of their Gold or Silver Armor

Please install the new islands file again, then the latest (full) update. I hope that would fix it. The new islands code might be out of date, which would explain the crash.

3) if it is the new islands code, then you need to update it in your pirates page, because i had the latest.
as for the new islands themselves, you didn't update them recently did you?, for the new 24-1-06 update?, if you did, then that might explain it, i have an old one, months old.

5) thanks, and which update is windrose in?, if its 24-1-06, then, as i said i cant get that to work for some strange reason.

P.S: One curiosity that hit me is, can an outdated new islands mod cause all this?
if not then maybe you should give me a detailed walkthrough about how to install all these to prevent a crash, and what about the new programs that we have to run before playing, the "LangSwithEnabler and ENGLISH VOICES" programs ? why not put the files in the update the normal way, so that we just unpack and play ?

Also isn't there a (F ??) button that makes screen shots from the game......if so where do they save too, and I will take a couple different ones for you.....I mean understand I have to sail around a bit and board something that gives me this, It could take a while....no telling how long it will take, and it would be easier to take a bunch at the same time....Hitting "print screen" will only save one right????

Bug for sure!, Alot of the characters will not hold there skins. I wished I knew how to fix it; it's ruddy annoying. I think it has something to do with characters having armor. If this happens, take the armor from the character, change his (or her) outfit back to what you want it to be and then give them armor to this character again. to

(XXXX = Light, normal, bold, etc.)

My stuff is from November so if there have been certain changes, it might mess up your game.
Pieter should know. If it is OK, I'll post my copy of the file.

What I did was add (copy-paste) to the Fonts.ini file, any sections that were not there but had been added by Maximus to his Fonts_new.ini.

These sections work with the new interface (perhaps it is old now) but point to the Russian font tga files.
I then edited these sections to point to the English font.tga files instead.
 
To Long John Silver: WOW! You're having some serious troubles wth saving and building permits. Last time I tried, I had no such trouble at all. I think the F9 button captures screenshots in .tga format. they are stored in the main PotC folder.

To Lord Nelson:

2) Then that bug will probably be fixed by the fix to the person switching after capturing another captain. I noticed the same after I had changed into the enemy captain as well.

3) If you install the new islands code first and then the update (the full one), that should work.

An outdated new islands mod shouldn't cause all this. And you have to run those programs, because files need to be moved for the translation mod (I can't add all those files into the modpack itself; would make a very large download and you already have the files). However, I might leave the translation out of the Pre Build 13 version, just to make sure I don't add more in that could cause trouble.

Thank You Pieter. Yes I noticed last night after "keith" did a shutdown/move to another server that all screenshots disappeared. Shame, because as you go back thru threads now, ( and not my piddley little topics ) a wealth of knowledge gets lost over time, from former "masters" and "students" of this game!

This is the second game that I have gone to Quebradas Costilas, and walked into the compound, only to have my character, stand quietly by and watch the most prolonged, endless, boring, did I say endless? I can't move, I can't say anything!.....nothing, zilch....The only thing that works are speed up, and sidestep, and then I only go so far and the game walks my character back up to them again. Can someone please explain this and offer some sort of a help, guess,......dumb theory even...

Gawd...not another restart!...please no

I seen a problem like that when the first time I come to Quedras Costilas the Artous Volley quest is activate. If the game is in fight mode (red icon) and dialog with Nigel Blight start during fight, then sometime I see your problem. I usually save first to enter in Quebradas Costilas and if the problem occurs then reload the game from that save.

Absolutely right, Pieter. Long John, the flash was a grenade fired by a cannon that guards the fort entrance (have a look behind the stockade that is supposed to fortify the entrance) BTW, there should have been an explosion sound as well. Did you hear that before the "near death" video?
Is this a problem? If yes I could attach those cannon to another LAI group so that they won't care if you hack down the forest character.

As for the "building permits", usually you'll never see one of those cause if you kill a building character no corpse that you can loot appears. Only in one of the last modpacks was the code missing that should have prevented "building" corpses.

You have now the ones that you took from the green shirted forest guy, right? You should get rid of them if you put these two lines

TakeItemFromCharacter(pchar, "forest" );
TakeItemFromCharacter(pchar, "marketstall" );

into console.c (below "ref pchar = GetMainCharacter();" ) and press F12
 
This is just a quick update to let you know that all downloads on <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.org" target="_blank">Pieter's Pirates Page</a>, including the new islands mod, should be working fine again. I have done some work on merging in several new mods into the modpack and I am planning on continuing that work this weekend. I am also wanting to release a new full modpack update then. I hope some of the recent bugs will be fixed when I do so. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

The full version I will be releasing next will be the base version that I'll use for making the Pre Build 13. I'll make a comparision between Build 12 and the Post Build 12 mods and merge in all mods that are in proper working order. Thank Hee, fer all yer great work. Now does yew mean bye this here post that "the downloads" have been somewhat bugfixed or that they (links) are just working again. Still just contemplating downloading over my existing set-up here to fix some of the bugs that have cropped up or wait some more?
