Fix in Progress Other complications with loansharks

Fluen

Freebooter
Build 14, newest update (April 2022).
I have switched "enable extra sounds" to 0 in InternalSettings.H and I use the updated Usurer_dialog.c supplied by Grey Roger, after which I re-initialized.
I also have made changes in InitItems, so jewelery sneak is set to 0 and skipsell is set to 1, after which I also re-initialized.

The calender fix for the loansharks works perfectly. I've managed to borrow money from two loansharks and pass the New Year with no difficulties.

But by coincidence the first loanshark I tried to borrow money from, was the loanshark in Santo Domingo on Hispaniola. I could borrow money just fine, and the quest book made a post with a title, but the quest text was completely empty. So while the game knew, I had borrowed money, there was no information about from who, the amount of borrowed money and the date of repay. I guess this loanshark is not corretly connected to the quest book.

I have made myself a mission to borrow money from all loansharks in the Carribean - one after another - and note it, if I find other problems.

And if someone with the skills at some point have the time and interest, I would suggest to make the loans individual in the quest book like it's done for the quests for the shipwrights, tailors, smiths and apothecary, so if the player borrows money from more than one loanshark, they are still able to keep track of the money, they owe, and to whom.

The loanshark on Turks Island will probably have the same problem.

Put the attached file into "RESOURCE\INI\TEXTS\ENGLISH". Try again - if it works at all, it should work without needing a new game, but you will need to load a savegame from before you borrowed money from the Santo Domingo loanshark.

Easier would be to make it like cargo delivery and escort quests, in which you can't get another similar quest while one is already active.

Making it easier to take multiple loans creates a massive exploit. Borrow the maximum amount from a couple of loansharks. When it's time to pay them back, borrow the maximum from a couple of others and use it to pay off the first group. Then, when it's time to pay off the second group, borrow again from the first group. As it is now, you can try that if you like but you'd better keep your own careful notes of what you borrowed from whom and when, because the game isn't going to help you with this scam! :p

Actually, my line of thinking went more along these lines: A poor seafarer early in the game wants to do a fetch quest. Borrows money from the loanshark on the home island of the artisan needing the goods. Sails to island selling the required goods and discovers the first loan doesn't cover the expenses of the goods. Borrows money from the loanshark on this island as well. Brings goods back to artisan and gets the huge payment. Pays back the first loanshark. Hears rumours about other artisan needing help and pays the second loanshark on the way to there. Now free of any debt and with a tidy profit. Perhaps even enough to fulfill the next fetch quest without having to borrow any money. :p I don't think your mentioned scam will do any good in the long run. There are interests to consider.
But ok, I'll bring pencil and paper.

I have checked both the loansharks in Santo Domingo and the La Tortue. With your updated loan-file, the both work perfectly. :thumbs1 The one in Grand Turk never caused any problems for me. I'll borrow my way through all the rest and let you know, if I find more complications.
