New Ship Models?

Question: Which good new ship models have been released in the past four months that we can/should include in PotC Build 14?
And of the ones released, which could/should replace existing content?

And while we're at it, how about cleaning out the PotC models folder,
getting rid of substandard quality models? Which models don't we really like anymore?
 
We should for sure include pgargon ones, especially it's 74, he made great works and it will furnish us some really nice ships and long awaited replacements!
 
Can anyone give me an actual list of the good new ones?
Of course I can go through the forum myself, but I don't want to risk skipping any. :facepalm
 
Well, some were released. That USS top-sail schooner and some HMS Victory version as well, I think...

Unless I'm very much mistaken, those are all the main new ship models.
By a matter of complete strange coincidence (or not!), they are all pgargon's.

Agreed; I dare say we can lose most. Though the Dutch ones are pretty cool.

I do think we also need some proper galleons and fluyts. What we now have are a lot of 1740+ ships (rather nice ones), but we lack ships from earlier periods (not counting the beautifull HMS Mordaunt)
 
I do think we've got rather a lot of British ships and would very much like to see other ones now.
 
I agree about the English ships, they have plenty of ships in the game. I'd like to see more French, Spanish and Dutch ships.
 
I would like to see some pirate ships, like for example the Sloop with more guns since pirates would try to get as many guns onboard there ships but at the sametime they would clear all the compartments out from bellow deck to allow for more cargo space.

Am I right in saying that these questions were never acted upon?
So a list of ships to include was made; did anyone put them in the game? :no
So I'd like to rectify that. :onya
I have already put HMS Victory and Le Superbe in PotC with great success, and would be more than happy to do the same for the rest of the ships mentioned.

As for which ships to remove and/or replace, I'm sure we could find a few if we actually tried...
(e.g. The Endeavour/Dauntless model could be better, and unfortunately the Soleil Royal needs removing due to complications :cry )
Personally I don't have the patience to go through EVERY ship model and decide whether it's worth keeping or not, AND I'm porting pgargon's fantastic ships to PotC, so if someone else would be so kind... :cheeky

Nope, nobody ever acted on this one until you kindly started working on it.
Basically, all of Pgargon's ships are worth adding, I reckon.
Links to most of them are in this thread, but this thread is out-of-date and there are probably some other ones too.
Have a look through all Pgargon's threads in the Storm Engine Modeling; you'll be sure to find them all that way.
He's been pretty consistent in his announcement threads and put download links in the opening posts of all of them.

I definitly agree that all Endeavour-variations could do with some heavy improving.
She does fill a historical gap of large manowars, but despite her using the highest quality model from Voyage Centry Online,
they still seem rather low-detailed, especially compared to the ships made by our community members.

We can always go through the ships later on; I do think I want to do that for Build 14 Beta 2, but that one won't be started on for a couple of months anyway.

I agree, pgargon has outdone himself with this line up of great ships, so they must be included in the Build Mod!

As for the Endeavour/Dauntless model, I brought that one up because I saw them mentioned in an old thread about re-texturing them.
Something was mentioned about a movie accurate model, but never actually done. :shrug

It's true, we need a good clear out of sub-par ships, but I guess it can wait, as you said. :yes
But as for the Soleil Royal, if you're SURE there's nothing we can do, I can remove her for you.
I'd just need to know which textures to delete, since they're all mixed in with the other ship textures. :mm
And I suppose Bartolomeu can handle replacing her in his quest.
