I have got the new Light Frigate 2, and she too is a beauty...my current favourite. I did notice however that there appears to be a strange visual inversion of the mizzen boom. This part of the model seems to have an inside out appearance. Also the mizzen boom now appears to be a fraction too low so that whereas previously you had unobstructed views in all directions from the quarterdeck, now these views are partially obstructed depending on how the mizzen sail is set against the wind. Would these be worth some minor adjustment?

It is indeed inversed. Normally, POTC swings fore-and-aft booms and sails in the wrong direction; to correct that I mirrored the X axis in the locator that adds the spanker. Sadly it appears that doing so doesn't mirror the normals as well, so you get the inside-out look.
Inez, am I doing my mirroring wrong? I still don't quite 'get' the XX-ZZ fields...

If you find the spanker too low, you can move up the rey_d4 locator in mast4.gm and that should fix it.

When I did Virtual Sailor modeling, I got something quite similar. In 3D Studio MAX, when I'd mirror the part, it would be properly mirrored. But when I'd export, it would be inside out. So I had to first "reset x-form" (which would flip the normals in 3D Studio MAX), then flip all normals back again. Doing so, you would in the end have a properly working model with the normals on the right side.

BTW: Any chance of some higher resolution flags for the other countries as well? The low resolution flags look quite bad on your great Light Frigate 2 skin.

Sorry I hadn't seen this discussion about mirroring of locators. And don't know if I get the problem, but I'd think the locator coordinate system should be kept right-handed - that is, instead of just inverting x, turn the whole thing 180 degrees (x -> -x AND z -> -z). However this may be completely off the point as I don't really understand what you're doing here.
 
Y'know, I have a ship here that Grumblepunk made, and if I can finish painting her, it can be put into the game. Forget exactly what she is (been so long), I think a frigate... Anyhoo, I don't know the procedure for putting it into the game to test it out, is it posted here somewhere (or on the Wiki)?
