It's a nice ship for trade missions, especially if you start out with it.
Of course, the pirate version is better.

I fussed with the guns but got strange results like bump ups to 24 lbs, so I left them at 12 lb.

If anyone wants to experiment with the cannon size, please do.
Remember, the numbers do different things depending on wether or not realistic cannons are set.

I just found the answer to this problem, 4 months later, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

In real cannon mod, the Merchantman in pirate version would not bump up from 12 lb cannon.
I left it at 12's because giving it 18's would bump it to 24's!

I found the problem in the Cannons_init.c on line 241 which lists the cannon as 16 rather than 18.
Just changing that, gives all Pirate versions of ships rated for 12 lb. cannon,
(Galleon, Pinnace, some Brigs, & Xebecs etc.) the 18's in real cannon mod!

If Cat were here I'd ask her if she wanted to change the cannons of the Lugger CTs down a bit from 12 as now the Pirate versions would have 18s as well!

The new and improved "Merchantman.zip" file has been uploaded to ftp.

Guns have been increased to 30 in the .gm model so now they actually work!
The large flag has also been added. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

I changed the skin a bit so that you can see where the new guns have been added.
All three work, even the one behind the closed hatch.

Make sure you change that line in "Cannons_init.c" file on line 241, so that the Pirate version gets the 18 pound and not just limited to the 12 pound shot!

I'm going to keep on trying to re-skin this so we can have your Dutch Fleut in game.

It should be better than the other fleuts and will really be a repaint version of my Spanish Light Galleon that I have just about finished.

I'll post the stats and Pic on that when I get it up on ftp.

I've add the Spanish Light Galleon to "Petro's Ships" folder on ftp (Sails not included)

1. Extract "Light Galleon.zip" file to temp folder


2. Copy the "Fleut50" folder to your POTC\Resource\models\ships folder.


3. Copy the "bortoutflut50.tga.tx" file to your POTC\Resource\textures\ships folder.


4. Copy the "50db.tga.tx" file to your POTC\resource\textures\ships folder.


5. Copy the "Fleut2_walk.c" file to your POTC\Program\SEA_AI\walk folder,
replacing the existing file as this one improves the Fleut2 as well.

Five months ago I promised this.

I finally uploaded to ftp the improved "Privateer" in "Petro's Ships"

I changed the mast positions, rat lines, and some ropes and pennants.

Deck floor is now straighter looking, name Sparta is removed form stern.

Added new iron cannon with 50di.tga.tx file.

Please use this one, it looks better. IMHO

Will you be doing some other things with that model as well? It would be nice if you could make the stern a bit more <a href="http://www.subclub.info/wpl/2005_meet/pics.h14.jpg" target="_blank">decorated</a>. If possible, maybe you could change the colour of the hull a bit more as well? I'm not sure about the shade of green you used. Most VOC ships used different types of green (dark green on the Amsterdam, light green on other ships), so I suppose the shade doesn't really matter as long as it fits with the rest of the ship. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

BTW: I would like to make an improved version of CCC's mapships mod that adds actual ships sailing the worldmap instead of toy models. I want to keep the upcoming updates small with only bugfixes, so I'm not sure if I will add the Light Galleon in the next update. When you get it in, there is something I left out.
It needs to be added to 3 places in the Boal_Cabin.c file just like we did with the Merchantman, so it gets the mid-sized cabin, that is if that file is still being used.

I'll keep on cleaning up my other ships, and add them to FTP as I finish so hopefully they can all be fixed for Build 13.
I really want to get around to totally re-working the war galleon, which to me now looks ugly.

Everything you manage to finish before Build 13 is done, will be added in. Everything you finish after that will be part of the Build 13.1. As far as getting it in game, we could:

1. make it just like the Light Galleon, class 3, all the same stats as I described in previous post above.
2. make it a traditional fleut, class 4, fleut stats, with or without the extra guns ...

I think the texture looks fine. Some more gold carvings at the stern would be nice, but that isn't nescessary. The Amsterdam has a VERY elaborate stern, but not all VOC ships had such richly decorated sterns. I suppose this fleut is one of those ships that wasn't as richly decorated as some others. Anyway: EXCELLENT job! Thanks a LOT! She'll look GREAT flying a Dutch flag. And, of course, she'll need to be limited to Dutch ships only. I personally think she should be a Fleut, not a Light Galleon. She looks exactly like a Dutch Fleut would. Dutch Galleons look different. I don't really care much about the stats, as long as they're realistic. Would be nice to give her more cargo space, because the Dutch were known for their trading. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I have gone back and am making some minor improvements to ship skins already added to the build, see below.

In the future this might be a nice addition to stock ship skins I think.

I plan to do this to the Dutch Fleut (already done) Light Galleon, Merchantman, Privateer, Light Frigate, and Pirate Corvette. I'll try to get them up so they can be swapped into Build 13.

The new ships, Treasure Galleon, War Galleon, Ketch should be ready for 13.1
I'm already thinking of a nice Caravel as well.
