I haven't tried to resurrect the original AoP fast war galleon (called "Galeon_h1" there, which is probably why the texture file in PoTC is still called "bortoutGaleon_h1.tga.tx"). But I did look at it with GMViewer, and it appears to have the same masts as the version I found in the "b14_beta3full" archive. So my guess is that
@Hylie Pistof and
@Armada improved it one way, adding the cabin and transparent windows; while De Zeeroovers improved the masts and rigging instead. What would be nice is if someone who knows how to mod ships could take the improved hull and improved masts and put them both into one fully improved model.
For comparison, here's how the two versions look. Disregard the flags; for the purpose of this quick experiment, I didn't bother changing "Ships_init.c", so the flags on the older version are wrong.
But this exercise has had one immediate result. See the discontinuity on the bow on the new version? That's because, when I created "FastGalleon3", I copied the entire model from "FastGalleon2" and changed the hull model to use texture file "bortoutFsGaleon1.tga.tx". What I didn't realise is that the bow is a separate model and also needed to be changed. I also didn't notice the problem, thinking the bow was supposed to look like that, until I resurrected the older version and saw how it should look. So I've now corrected the bow model in both "FastGalleon3" and "FastGalleon4", and updated the upload on the FTP site. Next time you see "FastGalleon3", it's going to have the correct bow.
I've also found this by pointing GMViewer at my old AoP install:
Anyone want that brought into PoTC as well? Our "Fast War Galleon" is AoP's "Heavy Galleon". This is the AoP "Light Galleon". I'm considering putting into the "Early Explorers" and "Spanish Main" periods as a light merchant ship, primarily for England given the paint scheme, though France and Holland could have some use of it as well.
