Oh, I have use a variety of programs...
Anim8or (free)
Wings 3D (open source)
MilkShape 3D (low cost modeller, mainly for a lot of games)
...but nowadays I try to learn to actually use my Cinema 4D <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> (<i>far </i>higher cost). <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blink:" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

About skeletons: The newest version of the tool *can* do female skeletons - you have to select woman.ani in the combobox (where the default is man.ani).
