Hello all,
Most of you know, some of you don't. Friday 9 February 2007, next week Friday, I will leave to sail 6 months aboard the Holland America Line ship MS Zuiderdam as Cadet Officer. During this time I will first sail around the Eastern part of the Caribbean and after a few months I will pass through the Panama Canal to sail around Alaska. This is of course a great opportunity and I'm sure it'll be a great experience. However, I will most likely not be able to do much Potc work during that time.
To keep an eye on the forum in my absence, CouchcaptainCharles and Hook have joined the moderating team. To make sure Pirates of the Caribbean modding can continue, Pirate_KK has offered to take up modpack compiling work. I have given him access to the www.s31clan.com/pietersmods server so that he can put his modpack compilations somewhere. I am still trying to give him access to the pieter.piratesahoy.org server as well so that he can keep using that website. He doesn't have very much time for modpack compiling and he hasn't yet worked as modpack compiler, so things might be going slowly. So please give him all the support you can!
I currently have a Build 14 Alpha 6 WIP on my computer that contains a whole bunch of stuff that is not available yet. I will try to release Build 14 Alpha 6 before I leave, but I'm not sure if I'll manage. If not, I will at least make sure that Pirate_KK will get access to all important files that I still have lying around.
I had originally promised to release a Build 13 Update with all fixes and stable Alpha mods included, but now it seems that I will most likely not be able to do that. Leaving for 6 months requires a lot of preparation and I do need to put my priorities on leaving and not on PotC work. So I will do what I can before I leave and I'll leave the rest up to Pirate_KK and the other PiratesAhoy! community members.
As far as how active I'll be during these 6 months, I just have one thing to say: I have NO idea how active I'll be at all. I will take my laptop with Pirates of the Caribbean with me and there should be internet aboard the ship, but I don't know at all how much use I can make of that or how much spare time I will find to spend on keeping in touch with this community. I will visit the forum as time and opportunity permits and perhaps I'll even be able to support Pirate_KK with modpack compiling. I might also try and playtest the game for a bit and perhaps do some modding of my own. But how much I will actually be able to do, I have no idea whatsoever.
I want to thank you all for the great time I have had in this community. People have come, people have left, we've had good times and hard times, but the community remained a great community. I hope that you will all be able to keep up what was originally started by Nathan Kell and continued by me. And you can be certain that I will return to the community when I return from sea.
If you have any questions or comments about my leaving, please say so. Preferably before I leave. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />
