The Rook would have made a much better Pirate companion than the Parrot imo. At least they had some brains.

The Rook would have made a much better Pirate companion than the Parrot imo. At least they had some brains.

Parrots can have brains too, and don't need training to use them. However, they can be evil.

I still remember when I was on holiday some years ago seeing a small aviary which contained, among other things, a parrot and a pheasant. There was some drinking water in what was effectively a small artificial pool, and beside it, an empty tin can. The parrot would dip the can into the water to fill it, then climb up a branch to its favourite perch, where it would drink the water.

And then it would wait until the pheasant walked below the branch, then drop the empty can on the pheasant. This wasn't coincidence; I saw the parrot try the same thing again, but on the second attempt it missed.
