As soon as im done with the kraken im going to start on davy jones. Here is the reference i managed to get from ILM (Industrial Light & Magic)

Cool! Several people started on a Davy Jones before, but nobody finished. I certainly hope you do manage. Possibly it's easiest to take an existing character model and try and modify him to look like Davy Jones. Sir Christopher Mings has been doing character model modifications lately and this has proven quite possible. Adding new characters made from scratch is something we have never managed to do before though. Should be possible with Maya 5.0 and Akella's tools, but we haven't figured out how to use them properly yet. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

I use 3ds max 9 sp2 and i have never tried character modifiying before the only hard part will be keeping the poly count down and the texturing but luckily i have already got one for his skin <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
 
Of course making the model from scratch should be possible, but I don't know about actually animation him. You should try to contact Sir Christopher Mings who probably knows most about putting characters into the game right now.
 
i doubt this is possible but is there anyway to give the tentacles some sort of procedural animation or does the game have any physics so that the tentacles can swing according to movement like if his head where to turn left the tentacles would swing in that direction

Razor has already made a brilliant model of Davey Jones....when we learn how to add such models to the game... it's already done.

i took a model out of the game but it was horrible the vertexes were all over the place some werent attached it was to hard to work with so i will have to make it from scrath

Yes ...the model seems to be a bit ....not grouped/joined togeather... but could be sorted out into a good model.

Thats if we are talking about the same model?
 
i mean all models from the original game (currently dont have build mod isntalled) could u send me the davy jones that razor made and i will texture it.
 
Look on the FTP in the Capt Razorz folder .....it's in there. Maybe you should contact Razor about working on it as it's his model <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
 
Did Razor make that model? Wasn't that the model that was ripped from the <i>At World's End</i> game?

I presumed it was Razor...may be wrong? As for being ripped from that game ..don't know ,it was uploaded in Sept. last year..so possibly it was.

If you'd like to see about improving the textures for this model, it's in a folder on the FTP entitled <i>Another Fine Mesh</i>, and then in a folder named <i>KazBoPHer</i>. I named the model after Kazeite, Bartholomeu O' Portugues and Heretik, three modders that made a Davy Jones model. I didn't know Razor was working on it too! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
 
i loaded up razors and yes the model name is like obj_blblabal(some number) and its definatly the rip from the worlds end game but its still quite a nice model so if it could be rigged (which i have no idea how to do never tried yet) it would look fine in the game
 
I just had an <u><b>IDEA!</b></u> but i need a model from the game in the right position to be put into inez since im working on both davy and the kraken, so if anyone can quickly send me one in obj or wrl format i would be very greatful <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /><img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
Would anybody be willing to make a better texture for Sir Christopher Mings' Davy Jones model?
