Hmmmmmm...

I'd noticed that if you open the inventory screen with one of your officers selected it showed his inventory instead of yours. I never thought of having him equip something. Good find!

Yes, it works... or at least those I tried. Even grenades can be eguipped, but if they use them.....

I tried this, but only effect was, that my companion almost killed everyone, me included. Maybe, I'll rename her to "Kamikaze" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

So random notes on some good things and couple of potential bugs.

I have taken and sacked the islands of Puerto Rico and Martinique. I really like that you have to fight through the town now not just the fort. The one thing here I have question about is when one meets with the Governor and you give the ransom message 6M in one case and 8M in the other, you get way more money, almost twice in each case.

On Grenada when I took the fort I killed on guy a the gate and got stuck.

The but I think I have found is in boarding when you talk to a surrendered captain, if you choose the option to make him a compaion, the ship you have captureed turns into a tartne and the game crashes when you leave the ship interface

I think somebody needs to go through all the towns and make proper boarding locator files; they still haven't been made for ALL towns.

I'm messing with the code that swaps ships at the moment. I think I know why swapping ships will sometimes CTD but I don't know how to fix it other than not to swap a certain attribute. If the enemy captain stuff ends up affecting this, I may be able to fix it.

I've got a minor code change that makes normal swapping work as designed. As soon as I've tested it with all the possibilities, I'll upload it.

I made so many captains as companions (except those who accepted quick death) and don't have any problems at all...
 
You can make a captured captain an officer and give him a ship, but I've never been able to make him a companion and let him keep his ship. If you've found the magic combination to make this work, I'd like to know what it is.

Heya guys; Ive d/w the 9.5 and full but the full only wants to open as a dos file and of course it wont let me open it cos os doesnt have the memory for it. I downloaded it from gamershell because the IMDB link wouldnt work. Why is it doing this or is it meant to be like that? Sorry for the stupid question but i do have 7zip decoders installed and it still wont open.

Can you please try to redownload? There's several links available at the ModDB, but also alternate links at the first page of this thread.
You shouldn't need to have 7-Zip in the first place, since it's a self-extracting archive.

I have no problems making captains officers; I'm just having difficulties learning how to make locater files, I guess it's on an advanced level...

Rotating locators is harder, for example. As is making a "Save At Sea" mod.
And much of the bugfixing and gamebalancing would also be harder. And making textures/models too.
