Hi Peter,

what happens when I double-click is that I get the question "which program do you want to open this file with?" and a selection of possible programs. I choose ZipGenius(only one I have) and then the process is as I described.

Does the file have an extension? Maybe when you downloaded the file, you accidentally saved it without extension.
Add .exe behind the filename, then try again and see if that does work. You should need no programs for opening EXE files.

so how do we disable the building mod? maybe we should not include it in the new build?
I added nothing just the mod14.9 and patch over the 13 build.

another bug when you capture a ship and try to assign a captain if your skill level is not high enough a box comes up asking if you still want to assign one but their is no boxes with a choice its blank.
another when you make the captain join you you can't
transfer goods is that correct for the ship name to say error and everything zero out?

question can you or is their a way to sleep on your own ship instead of the inn?
maybe a sleep till...mod when you get near your bed in your cabin?
Another thing I noticed is when you assign keys the interface seems to get buggy.
The log book would be nice to have working.can't remember where I need to go ANY quest you take and the logbook goes blank.
if we ever get the bugs worked out It will be nice.

You know i actually told you about this bug when alpha 8 was out. Only that time the shopkeper was just plain ond broke ^^

No idea about alpha 9 since i havent been to that town yet ^^

Raiting system?

If you mean the automatic skill system its simple. Fight people with your swords to increase swordfighting. Kill ships with the cannons to increase canons and so on.

Basically you increase stats depending on what you do.
 
Actually if you do the tutorial Malcolm will told you about everything you know about raising your skills by using the auto skill system. Start a new game real quick and tell Malcolm that you will train with him, after training Malcolm will tell you what to do to increase your skills.

Well, lessee...

Talking to people raises your leadership and luck.

Trying unsuccessfully to open chests raises your defense and luck. Who needs lock picks? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Swordfighting raises melee and defense.

Sailing raises... sailing, what else? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> But only while you're actually on the deck of your ship. Points are added on the hour and half hour.

Some quests grant various skill points, usually leadership.

Buying and selling stuff raises commerce.

Firing on other ships and hitting them raises accuracy and cannons.

Hitting enemies with your pistol raises accuracy.

Repair skill is raised by either doing your own repairs or having the shipyard do them. Those also raise defense.

Getting hit by enemy cannons raises defense.

Edit: boarding ships raises grappling.

You can "buy" skill points by talking to people who offer them. They're expensive, but you get a whole skill point from it. It's more worthwhile to do this later in the game when you aren't getting a lot of skill points.

Probably a lot more I don't remember at the moment. Keep in mind that the stuff you do at the very beginning of the game raises your skills the most.

I know how to build skills what I ment was before it was 1-10 on the right side the big numbers..now its 1-1 2-2 ect...thats what I mean whats with 2 sets of #s and i guess they reset with each level upgrade.
 
The number on the left is your current stats with no item bonus, the one on the right should be the stats with items bonus equip or in your possession.

Have a look on page 6 in this thread, post 101 and 102 and you will see this bug with picture and answer, is a known issue.
Take the captain first in the cargo and meet him later, so it work for now.
 
Uniform:

This both uniforms (1800 Gold and 2200 Gold) are the same,there is only in the price a different.

I get never a chance to lot this captain (with this clothes) and so his money and weapon are lost. I met him often (sure with changed names) and every time the same result.

Hi

I have latest buid installed, however i changed the skills to manually instead of automatic so i can choose to spend my skills points on what i wanted, started a new game with that hawk guy, ive dont the tutorial with malcom (getting inventory, filling wepons hold etc etc)

Then i get to the bit where he says go spend ur skills points, i can spend the ablities ok (basic defense, advance defense etc) but the skills button doesnt click and doesnt get highlighted, ive tried everythign i can think of clicking the skill i want clicking the skills button but nothing <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

is this a bug or am i just missing something?

I was told to click on abilities then use the up and down keys to move it and space bar to raise the skill. It worked for me for a while <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> but for some reason it stopped working. Now I just click on the tiny sliver that is still selectable, just to the right of it. Takes a few tries but after a few times you can get it pretty quick.

When you have finished distributing your abilities, click EXIT (you go back to the character page).
Then click the UP Arrow on your keyboard till you reach the skill you want to increase - then click mouse.

You can go up and down to the various skills that way.

[I had to be told about that one!]
 
Pirate_KK says he has a fix for that increase skills interface problem, so that should soon make it into a patch if we can separate it from the rest of his work. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Change your options first, then start/load your game. Actually, if all the code does what it's supposed to, you <i>can't</i> take them.
The mod isn't particularly bugged; it just has weirdness inherent in the way it's coded. But it's still a good way of livening up otherwise dull-looking location copies.
It's used in many parts of Bartolomeu's quests and I think turning it off would cause some issues sooner or later when you have to get into invisible warehouses and churches! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Hi Pieter,

my security system did not allow to unpack files from unknown locations. Turned it off in file properties and everything unpacked where it should.

However, I can`t walk... I remember this problem, but not the solution...
