An ambitious project

That's COOL! Looks like some sort brig/xebec combination now. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
BTW: I just had the random thought... what if the assassin in the new main quest is actually a female? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Heh,....Pieter, I'm not decorating the cabin <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

LOL! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />
I was just thinking that we have rather a lot of male-centred main quests. The only exception is the Devlin Opera.
Might be nice to have some more. Or otherwise finish the Devlin one once the Jack Sparrow (and possibly Hornblower) quest is done.

i hate to pop the balloon here, but xebecs like that didn't excist. not that size, looking at the size of the wheel. (in fact, there wasn't nearly enough room for a cabin under there. the cabin was a canvas tent on top) still, it's pretty awesome as a non-historical ship anyway, and black always does it as a colour scheme.

Bit of a fantasy ship maybe, but still looks cool. It's not really a Xebec anymore anyway. More like a Xebrig! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" /> Brigs are ship rigged and as I understand it have only two masts.

Goes to show what I know; I tend to call ships "brig" quite quickly. Of course I do know they're supposed to have two masts and are ship-rigged.
And what the hell was I thinking there anyway? It's no brig. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

funnily enough, i used to think that xebecs where constructed like that, with the cabin under the half deck. it looks better, even though it may be wrong.

Great ship Damski62 ! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />
Don't worry about the time for finishing it! Anyway, I have to wait for the upgraded Machete !
About the assassin, a female ? You're joking with me Pieter ? Why not a kid ? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

What, you've never met a female assassin? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> They're... dangerous. Usually very beautiful, they can get in places a man couldn't.

Hook

To Hook you listen! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
It was just a random thought I had. Probably not a particularly good one though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

In that time for the Spaniards the only things a woman could do : was cooking, cleaning the home and make children. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

In my opinion, we don't need to have a positive discrimination-attitude for our game.
For example I remember once having seen in the code that someone had attempt to replace the Conceiçao governor by a female governor, just so that they'd be at least one and it'd look equilibrated. Honestly - we don't need that!

Of course, main quests with a pirate-woman main character are most enjoyable, we have Beatrice Devlin, and I wouldn't be against having the option to chose between Danielle and Nathanael at the begining of the standart main quest. The good thing in current Build 14 is that depending on which storyline we chose, we can have very different game ambiant. Chosing the Devlin-opera, we can have all sort of not-historically-accurate funny things, modders in the game, etc. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> With the Hornblower storyline, we have a more navy-english litterature fealing. Well, for this new main quest, if I followed correctly, Bartolomeu wanted to have <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->a quest about the life of a Spanish mercenary in the 17th century.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->That means, in a specific background/historical context.

It's been confirmed. It was one of my <i>not</i> so good ideas. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
We'll just keep it at the Beatrice storyline then. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Of course Pieter, I don't like this discrimination against the women but It was the <b>reality</b>. And in the Latin people as the Spaniards and the Portugueses you can't even imagine as the woman was not respected.

Point taken. Not to worry... it was just a silly idea. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

I added a small video (1 min) showing the voyage of a galleon taking Bartolomeu from Portugal to Port-au-Prince. And when you start in the Hispaniola_Port, you can see the galleon moored.
EDIT : I will send this work over the next days.

Improved opening scene? BRILLIANT! I was hoping you might do something like that. Good job. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Extract <i>Start Video</i> on your alpha 9 and start a new game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
<a href="http://hosted.filefront.com/dasise/" target="_blank">http://hosted.filefront.com/dasise/</a>
Next work will be to include the a Simple Virtual Sailor's music mod into the main quest. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
