The Kraken

just a question, can you add damage to the sharks and so ono swimming around the ships? if you can, that would have been a good thing for the kraken. if not, you could maybe create a new model under the sea that could be kraken, and make that swim close to the tentacle goods. and if you pick up the tentacles, can you sell them? :p
 
I don't know about animals. As far as I know, they can't cause damage and they can't be "steered' so they stay around the same spot either. Not to mention nobody ever managed to make a completely new model (character, animal or otherwise) and animate it for proper use in the game yet.

You wouldn't be able to sell those tentacles, unless when you hit them, there is a tentacle item/good added to your inventory as well. but does the driftwood dissapear as well? i've run into that a few times, but i never saw it happen. of course, i was sinking, so i didn't really check.
 
They're floating goods. They disappear when you sail over them. Same as any other floating goods. Including sailors.
 
but wouldn't the size of the tentacles be quite small in relation to the black pearl for an instance?
 
dunno. the two really big ones came up to the truck of the mast. that's pretty bloody big if you ask me.
 
The size wouldn't be a problem if you make the models big enough. The one thing I wonder about is the collision detection. Would be rather silly to be able to sail through a tentacle without "picking it up" and taking damage because the collision detection is still from a small object. But we'll only find out if that's a problem if somebody ever actually tries to put the Kraken in.

Sure, why not. Keep it simple. It could always be a project that could evolve over time. It would be cool to see an animation, but it would be cool enough if we just got the text. It's more consistant with the story line than " X was sunk by the hand of GOD" don't you think? Don't forget it is also triggered releasing ships as well. It kind of brings to mind the first time we saw the Kraken in action in the movie.
 
I suppose we could do that, but I think there'd be some people who wouldn't really like that. Still, it's easy enough to change in your own game version. Just find the text in the RESOURCE\INI files and change it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
