Swamps: A bug that looks cool

Well i'm busy making a aligator and in the gm viewer it looks good. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

If so a lot of new items could be introuduced, would be interesting to get aligator skins and sell them in the tailor shops <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbs1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2up" border="0" alt="thumbs1.gif" />
Anyways wath this game realy needs is more animals, how many do we have 2? 3? I know we have sharks and lizards...could do with some birds...
 
Animals are no characters and can't be killed. Only monkeys can be killed because they ARE characters. And we do have some butterflies and birds flying around occasionally.

there's also moths and small fish. i've seen sharks, seagulls, moths, fish, lizards, butterflies, rats, and the way too common undead monkey.
 
In RESOURCE\MODELS\Animals you can find eagles, lizards, rats, sharks and... periscopes. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/user_comment.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="user_comment.gif" />
 
what? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blink:" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> never seen those. though i do recall it being mentioned before.
 
The model is there; not sure if it's actually used in the game. I don't recall ever seeing it.
 
Should be made a normal monkey, not only a undead one... but periscopes? If that where stock games i guess it's just an easter egg <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />
 
Very true. I don't think we can retexture the cursed money to look more normal, really.

I wonder when the alligator skin actually began to be used in industries or for clothing... Might be usefull to check that first.

About the lack of animals in Potc, I must agree. Not only wild animals would be usefull but some domesticated ones as well : chicken, dogs, etc.
And some cows for our Buccaneers! What would they hunt otherwise?...

I've also noticed something conspicuously missing from PoTC (and AOP) - with all those carts and wagons around the cities, where's the oxen, donkeys, and horses to pull them? I can see them not being hooked to the carts and wagons since I'm assuming they'd just be unmoving objects, but several buildings seem to have what look like animal stalls hooked onto them. I wonder why Akella didn't think to put animals in a few of them? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

@Toft: I get the same feeling as you, and wonder why I can't hear the cries that some of the NPC's report hearing from Mephisto's decks. Almost makes me think I've happened upon the wrong evil ship <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I think there might be more animals in some of the Russian AoP additions and City of Abandoned Ships.
 
Maybe if we put the alligator in the character map? And code it in like the monkey? You won't have the real attacking animation, but you can kill it then! And inez diaz has a model for a horse (although it hasn't has an animation!) Alan smithee had a project in which he turned the shipyard in a stable with non-movable horses.
 
Might be possible to make those alligators actual animals. Would be cool. Once they're done, we might do some experimenting with that? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
