Swamps: A bug that looks cool

a character in PotC2:DMC <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/jackhat.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":j2" border="0" alt="jackhat.gif" />

What can I say, I don't do movies, too busy skin'n. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

I can't even say I've seen the entire Star Wars IV, V, VI , yet I flew a "Tie Fighter" for the Emperor's Hammer for 9 years.

In truth there be much debayte about the real identity of Tia Dalma in the films (I'll refrain from repeating the rumours). Much of it surrounds the nonsensical Witterings of enthusiatic Fans speculating 'bout the 3rd Film and the inevitable supernatural Elements. That 'Keeptothecode.com' bunch have all manner of ridiculous Theories as to Tia Dalma...but I hope they is wrong. The best Bits of the Films are the less fantastical Scenes with Ghosts and the like. Suffice to say, the accent was most grevious, but the character was quite entertaining.

So how about those swamps, eh? I changed the Hispaniola Buccaneer Camp into a swamp to give it more of an impression of being deserted and a place where Captain Vanderdecken might live. Any other locations we could change into swamps? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

heh, i remember this one. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> how about a khael roa jungle location? or something on one of the new islands?

I need to know specific location suggestions; then I'll add the required line of code to them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
While we're at the subject of jungles: There are some jungle reskins <a href="http://piratesahoy.net/potc/Thomas%20the%20Terror%20files/Jungles%20for%20Bartolomeu.zip" target="_blank">here</a> that we might use. Some of them are already used by Bartolomeu o Portugues in his Silver Train quest as jungles on the Battle Rocks location. But we could use the other ones as well to replace some of the jungles on the new islands and add some more variety. Any thought on which jungle location to use where?

I need to open a store and a tavern in the Buccaneer Camp. There is no problem, right ?

You do? That's a shame; since the Buccaneer Camp was abandoned, I flooded it and had Captain Vanderdecken, seller of cursed ships, walk around there.
Of course we can make it into a NORMAL Buccaneer Camp instead of an abandoned one and I will need to find someplace else to have Vanderdecken wandering around.
When it is to be a normal Camp, it shouldn't be flooded anymore either, right? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/user_comment.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="user_comment.gif" />

I only need a normal Buccaneer camp for my main quest (so just for the Spanish Main period).

So then we'd need to fill the Bucanneer Camp and make it a normal one in the game and think of something else for Vanderdecken. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

vanderdecken looks kinda old. i think he would be in the first period, unless the time of the legend doesn't match. how about having a different kind of jungle for khael roa? like, dark rocks and not-so-green vegetation, like the rest of the island.

I think there's no point in removing Vanderdecken from the first time period, just because we need the Buccaneer Camp. There is so many more places where Vanderdecken could be found. The whole reason for adding that guy in the first place is to get rid of the very frequent "where do I get the Black Pearl/Flying Dutchman/Endeavour/Interceptor/etc" questions. But he doesn't necessarily need to be in the Bucanneer Camp; I just put him there to give that place *some* purpose. But it would be better to make it into a REAL Buccaneer camp and put Vanderdecken someplace else. How about the cabin in the shipwreck on Isla de Muerte? Only disadvantage: You can only get there with Jack's compass, so you must play the CotBP quest to get there. And that is always in the same gameplay era as well. Unless we add a second alternative way of getting Jack's compass and accessing Isla de Muerte.

in b14 a6 with PBmodifications you don't have to play the quest because it isn't there. i do like the choice of location though. hispaniola is interesting enough already. i haven't explored much of cuba though. maybe putting him there would be a good idea. (the jungles on cuba aren't actually finished yet, i think. i found some dead ends)

The Buccaneers had an important role during the Spanish Main period. That would be a shame not to use this location <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

well, i always thought the location was a bit odd. the place having a purpose would be good.

You don't have to tell me that. I know you could just get the thing from Mr. Gibbs in the Tortuga Tavern there. I <i>added</i> that. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Possible other places for Vanderdecken:
- Cuba jungle
- Cabin in Isla de Muerte shipwreck
- Dungeon/Cave somewhere

Perhaps he should be somewhere else in each period. In the first period, he could be in the Cuba jungle, in the second period he would be in the Hispaniola Bucanneer Camp (which has been abandoned since the first period), in the third period (Jack Sparrow time) he could be on Isla de Muerte, etc. Wouldn't really make things any simpler though. But it WOULD be funny and would make him much harder to find for new players, so that'd add a challenge and give people an incentive to explore the game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

it could also be completely random. actually having to look for the item would be interesting. for instance, the top of the oxbay lighthouse could be a good spot. that one's very hard to find. it used to be the location of a masterpiece spyglass, but it's now replaced by a random item. the lighthouse should be openly accessable though. now it's only open for once.
