Spanish gold

Yeah, I see what you mean. Not so much the old blue interface but the old icons. I'll get on to that right away.

Cheers <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Yep, I need to fix the goods.tga file in RESOURCE/Textures/INTERFACES. My fault.... a poor merge of the POTC and SLiB files. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> Sorry about that. Will redo asap, time permitting.

Hmm Its just an Idea but do Gold and Silver need to be on Inport/export and contraband as it was valuble stuff so its not likely to be on Export or contraband and if the gold has a high price on all islands it does not need to be on inport either

Maximus has already done it for you. See attached. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
BTW: Have you had any luck with the FTP yet? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Hey, that's great. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> Many thanks, Maximus. Just checked it in-game and it looks fine. I'll just need to change the co-ordinates in the INTERFACE/pictures file to recognise the raw gold image rather than the coins.

Thanks Pieter. Is it working OK in your game?

Still not getting through to the FTP. My internet settings must have changed again. Hmmm... worked fine until just recently. I'm determined to sort it out, though. Hope to solve the problem tomorrow. If not I might have to send some of those amendments (officers and marines) through to you.

Cheers, mates <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> thar Jack Davidson, where do I find all this stuff, I going to add them to my build right now!...the gold, silver officers...the works, I want it all....and give nothing back....well maybe!!!

This stuff is too cool to pass up

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there, Pieter.

I'm back.....

....onto the FTP that is. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wavarr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":warr" border="0" alt="wavarr.gif" />

My firewall was being insubordinate, but I showed it who the captain of this fine ship really is. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

Anyway, I'm about to upload the new combined version of the officers and marines and will probably withdraw the previous two separate versions. I'll have the updated silver, gold and bricks up there shortly, too (haven't quite finished tweaking it yet).

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there, LJS.

Aye, matey, you can get all this stuff plus plenty more from the Pirates Ahoy! FTP. Check out the FTP thread on the forum here (in POTC Modding, I think) for the link.
The address is: ftp.piratesahoy.org
User Name: files@piratesahoy.org
Password: piratesahoy

There's another thread, Useful Modding Tools, where you can get FTP Commander as well, a very useful tool which allows easy access to FTPs.

Cheers, mates <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

Sal'right Jack Davidson, I have been to the FTP many times already, I was just wondering what I needed from there, to get your work, but you sort of just informed me half of it! So these marines and Officers skins, do they get added to the Tailor shops or does one have to assign them to nations. Can I add certain colors or skins to certain towns or Ports. I thought maybe adding one English skin to Greenford, and then another English skin to Redmond, so it would be almost like using different regiments.

And I see from your post the Gold and Silver Ingots are not ready yet?

There's a version of the New Trade Goods (gold, silver, bricks) on the ftp which works, however has a minor flaw with the old goods icons in interface. Maximus just fixed the goods.tga file for me so I'm just in the process of checking it again and re-aligning the gold with it's correct image and then I'll have the updated version up on the ftp asap.

There's three items on the ftp relating to these new military skins. JMV & Jack Davidson new officer uniforms is compatible with the 5/3/06 Post Build version. So too is JMV & Jack Davidson British Marines. JMV & JD Officers and English Marines is the combination of both the previous ones updated to be compatible with the latest version of Post Build 30/4/06. The uniforms are all rank coded (minimum lieutenant, even for the soldiers uniforms) and are available only from the tailor shops of the related nations, English, French and Spanish. This doesn't replace the old skins, just gives you some more choices.

Hmm.. I'm not sure but I don't think it's possible to assign particular skins to individual shops. They're just Nation specific.

Hope that helps yer thar, matey,

Cheers <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> mates,

The New Trade Goods - Gold, Silver & Bricks mod has been updated on the ftp. I've tested it and everything seems to be fine. The old goods icons problem has been fixed. If you encounter anything unusual, please let me know asap and I'll fix it asap.

Cheers, mates <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Thanks Pieter. Is it working OK in your game?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Yes, it is. Though I admit I haven't tested it very thoroughly yet. The only "problem" you have already found: The bag of gold replacing the gold nugget on the old icons. Otherwise it's all working. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I will download your newest versions and add them into my game as well. Thanks for your work. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Sorry Jack Davidson: I was a little vague there above, and I realize that now! What I was asking about the skins was not to place them in a particular Tailor Shop, but the ability to place some of your skins over the Guards in certain Ports. The default Skins that are in the build now....can I take some of your new skins and have them used for the Guards in Redmond, or better yet add them to the new military base in Antigua? What I want to achieve is, yes they are English skins used but each Port or Town may have a different skins used for their English Guards......so each town will be different.....

Yeah, sure thing, that can be done. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

I avoided changing the original soldier skins with this mod because there are those out there that prefer not to have the "Napoleonic" appearance, which these obviously are. That's why they're Tailor shop only and rank coded, meaning that they will only appear via player choice. I was thinking that the marine skins would only be used as boarding models and of course purchased uniforms for your crew rather than having them for town garrisons which I think were more likely to be regular infantry. Having said that, go for it if you want to change things around a bit. I kind of thought CCC might end up using some of these for Antigua since it is obviously a Royal Naval establishment.

Cheers, matey <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

P.S. I've got some other soldier skins lined up (Deringers work) which are excellent, however, they're definitely late 18th century so may not appeal to all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

Great stuff Jack Davidson, thankee tew ye sire!

Don't suppose anyone wants to point me in the general directions of what files need putterin with tew achieve what i'm tryin to do....is their any tutorials on replacing the charcaters in game....

As a starting point check out PROGRAM/NATIONS/Nations_init C File. I think this is where you can change the soldier models for each nation. It would seem that you can only change each nations models as a whole rather than per island.

Cheers <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Actually, on second thoughts, check out the files in PROGRAM/Characters. Not sure which ones are used but you can change the individual character models for each town in there.

Cheers <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

You should open up the PROGRAM/Characters file for the island you want to change, then replace all soldier models with the model you want for them. That way, you can simply change it for all soldiers on one island. You could probably even do a search and replace command to quickly do it. Once you've done it, can you send the result to me as well? I like to have all skins used too. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Be interested if you get it to work. I edited the Redmond character init and changed the soldiers models to the JMV and Jack Davison marines but there was no effect in game. So either I did it wrong, it doesn't work, or it'll only take effect in new games.

Thankee again gentleman, and hope it works out for the best. Tis great if'n I can give Pieter somethin back as well........

P.S. The GMViewer will allow me to view all skins correct ? and where is the master list for all skins so I get there names right, charactersinit.c ??

Now I know why Pieter would like that list of characters updated on his website.....that would be great, too bad we could not keep a master list somewhere, what proggy uses both text and pictures....Word ??

Isn't it in Program\Models\initModels.c that you find all the model.id codes for use? I used the model.id names for the added JMV & JD stuff and swapped those with the model.id names in the redmond.c init file...but to no avail.
Charactersinit.c doesn't have the info, it just references the location character init files using includes (#include "relative file path") at the start of the file...so the model.id names for the characters of each island are in the Program\Characters\init\redmond.c or whatever island you want.
