Silent Hunter 3 and 4

What does GWX mean? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> ..i'm missing the fun here. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sad" border="0" alt="icon_sad.gif" />
But i do think that SH3 means Silent Hunter 3 ..am i correct? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

So GWX will F**K you off from their forum if you don't like that their mod is hard as hell? How can they F**K you off then when you are NOT a member of their forums? Eh? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />
 
When I talk about obtuse and difficult to use mods, GWX tops the list. However the good does outweigh the bad. Things only get really ugly in Late War scenarios with the enhanced radar, guns, and AI stuff. But the new models and other details are awesome. Don't know how folks played SW3 without the GWX gramaphone selections!

I've got both SH4 and SH3 and SH3 wins for me. Mainly because I like the feel of the German U-Boats. They feel like leaky tubs that are as dangerous to you as the enemy and with the option to have the crew speak German you're really transported to another place and another time. SH4's got gorgeous visuals and the crew management is much simplified (though much of it was quite mysterious last time I checked the Subsim forums). But the subs feel too clean and slick, besides you can't really wander around in them like you can in your U-Boats, and I've got plenty of Yanks to hang out with in other games.

Oh, reason I'm posting is that GWX 2.0 is out now. Haven't looked over the feature list yet but probably worth a look for those so inclined.

Am currently middle of a patrol. Haven't played cause am waiting for expansion pack release, Did fire the game up to see how it runs with latest Nvidia drivers and am impressed with this driver. Better frame rates, graphics arre noticably better, although I had to set and reset AA settings to get it to work properly. Also been playing the The Witcher. Will be at the helm of my sugar boat soon. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
 
A sad time as Dave/Leovampire, Founder and Modmaker and project leader for ROW{ Relections on the water] for Silent Hunter 4, passed away last weekend from a heart attack at a young age of only 42, Not only was Dave a great modder but was extremly helpfull to all members over at SubSim and will be missed by many.
Seems to me like only the good die young, just doesn't seem fair. Will be fly'n me flag at halfmast in honor of Dave.
 
Skull, for your information. Since you seem to like submarine games, I came across one today you might want to check out. It is called "Shells of Fury." This simulation sub game takes place in World War I. You command a German submarine and go on missions. These subs are quite primative as they only carry two torpodeos. The submarine was just coming into its on at this time. The game is for PC Windows XP or Vista. Price is $20.00.
 
Aye Meigger, had me eye on this game, an truth be told, I have love for naval games, wether it be above the ocean ur beneath.

I'd be holdn me opinon on this game to see what the modder's can do to improve the game, anyone wanting to venture an start a sub career, go with Silent Hunter 4 for with Mods

Aye that submarine game WAS posted in these forums here.
This submarine game has way too crapy graphics for the system it needs ..that's what i recall about this game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
Some modders have been working on improving graphics and have seen some improvements but yeah! it's a low budget game with out of date grahics compared to SH3 and SH4. You can pick up SH4 for $20.00 and with Uboat mission expansion due to be released very soon. for around $30.00.
On another note one of the guys WIP on a playable SchnellBoot in SH3 with very good success. which means very possible to make playable PT Boat for SH4 which would be cool

a download content DVD - would take a year too long to download.
 
Ocassionaly, to busy play'n Buccaneers, Assassin's Creed. EB Games had the case for SH4 Gold Edition includes Uboat missions, but no game. Sold it without case, Ah well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />o)
