POTC Build 14A7 - Bug List

Changing the compass might be easier than changing the sun (as in real life) - although I must admit, that I have not looked into that so far ... the Crashes are more important and I am somewhat stuck in the AIShip.c file ... it seems that the same function sometimes throws an error and sometimes not, I just can't figure out why <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />
 
You don't want to be changing that compass. If you do, it won't agree with the worldmap anymore. What would need to be done is to turn the worldmap 180 degrees, but nobody actually knows how to do that. But the worldmap itself is, in fact, upside down and all the ingame compasses needed to be turned 180 degrees so that they would point the proper way again ingame.
 
Actually you are right - I don't want to do that, at least not in the near future. I think it is more important to solve CTD bugs (like the one with the AI, which is driving me crazy) than cosmetic ones like this one.

Pieter, do you have an idea about that bug (in topic SendMessage to AI)?
 
what's more, if you'd change the compass, it would only be right in the evening or the morning, and not both.
 
About bugs and performance :

When I make a boarding on a large deck (AOP deck), I noted an important slowdown but when I use the skill-system of Maximus the slowdown during the boarding is so important that's impossible to succeed it (max 1 image/sec <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> and my computer is a 2600+).

Always about the skill-system, when I use it, I have bugs in some of my quests (Help turks, Santiago quest). The characters of the quests attack me <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> (like Pieter at the beginning of the Help turks) or it's impossible to talk to some characters.
I've also played my quests without the skill-system and everything seems to work. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

I've attached fix of the following problem: CTD when pressing 'Options' button in main menu - turned out that I forgot update NEW_INTERFACES\option_screen.ini! Idiotically stupid! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />

there's one more thing i noticed about the wierd bug where the ship's hp get's reset:

if the ship is a fast schooner, flute MM, or any other special type of ship, the name (and maybe the stats too, but i'll need to investigate that) get's reset to that of a regular ship of that type, such as schooner or flute.

Different flag mod: I didn't merge that mod yet. The reason is I think I have idea how to possibly make it even better, but it requires a lot of work. The majority of bugs should be removed first, I think.

Maybe I'll release fixes to that 'Alpha 7' which would also make its installation easier. I'm not sure when.

I would just add that in the 'Find François Moulin's quest', i have also the same problem (characters attack me) if the <b></b>skill-system of Maximus work<b></b> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
I think that this strange ship-merging / ship at full HP bug for some ships might also be related to the crashes we experience with the Ship_Move function (Sendmessage to AI thread). It seems some ships are messed up for an unknown reason, which then leads to these bugs and crashes.
 
well, i can only hope that this get's fixed.

which reminds me: has that empty chests bug been fixed yet?
 
So far I have not noticed many empty chests - some were empty but not all. However, due to the above mentioned crashes it is impossible to advance very far in the Build 14A7 game.

I think, something is wrong with the referenced Character object, which causes the bug. I have meanwhile traced a lot of debug information but without really conclusive answers to the problem source.
 
Good day to all you fellow pirates.

I have a question about the missing cannon sounds/gradually disappearing(or perhaps the very low volume and disappearing sounds?). Does anyone know anything to do about it? Because it is very annoying, especially when in doubt if there's anything to do about it.

That said, and this being my first post, I'd like to say that I'm really impressed by this great pirate mod. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

My only criticism at this point is the installment instructions on 14a6, the thing about manually transferring the preset.bat and runme programs really took me awhile to discover(not to mention hours of installing and uninstalling).

Again, I'm very impressed by the years of modding work put into this. Very very savy.
