Sorry to tell those who don't know yet: no walking with an avatar yet, like in POTC, but they're planning to do so though. So only `sea-battles` for now, like in Age of Sail, but on a much higher level of detail

the game will be download only (initial download fee still bieng discussed) 10$ a month (the cheapest mmorpg i have ever heard of) the minimum requirements are really high, and things like avatars will NOT be in the initial release.

The detail is absolutely stunning.

What gets me is this:

Russell is not recruiting ANYONE who does not have at least 4 to 5 good years of experience in their particular field. For instance, their aim to make this play out well over the internet is due to them hiring a guy who worked at Hewlett Packard for several years doing nothing but writing TCP/IP stacks. They aren't hiring people who normally work on games, they are hiring artists in their own related fields.

The cannonballs are all trackable objects. Meaning that every cannonball can deliver it's own unique damage to a vessel. And though it will only be nautical based for now, the `land-based` deals such as trading and shipyard will be done from menus until they implement avatars.

Still, one hell of a masterpiece at hand.

I just found that site and this one. I'm in pirate heaven. The game looks wonderful and everything about it is fantastic. A little nervous about it not focusing on pirates, but such a cool game in theory anyway. Check out the forums, they are very active and I can't keep up. Especially now that I have this place too.
