This update includes 86 total facts from the third designer diary and the new preview.
There is also a link to Cutlass Isle. The FAQ there is easier to view since it is not on a thread.

Why it couldnt be :1 year its 1 hour , and ofcourse pirate can die from disease or something.

This really sucks..

I assumed that you would be able to choose how fast you player will age..

6 minutes = 1 year..thats ridicolous. (I would like 24 hours = 1 year or something like that) In Pirates you could play hour after hour..... How fun will this game be if you need to start a new career for each time you play?????

this is for me an even bigger issue than the sailspeed.

but luckily there are betatesting ahead of us...
 
Well this is one of thise thing i would expect you could hack into a bit, as it will be requested a fair bit methinks

I defoo hope so...

You will ruin the entire experince of the game with such short career.
 
It should be easy for them to add that into the game, and with the Gamebryo engine meant to be so moddable, shouldnt it be quite easy to change? wish Jeff or someone could answer this, or maybe they will see through beta testing... by the way, how will they do the beta testing?

Ya, the time needs to be expanded. I really liked playing pirate from 7 to 1 in the morning when I was younger. I so hope they will not make it a 5 hour game. That would do a huge `dis-service` for the game and what it did to the industry. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />
 
Yeah, when I think about it more, I wonder, "where's the rush?" When reading the previews they say things like quicker, fast paced, and stuff like that. What I don't understand is why are they making the game so fast paced (if it is how they portray it)?

If someone clears that up, it'd be great...

`5-6` hours for a career. well I assume the reviewers will play the game a few hours so that time is ultimate if you look at it from that perpective.

The reviewers would be boored with slow sailing. They usually want pure action.

I think it is good that they make the game so that the reviewers should be happy. then the sales will be higher and the possabilities for a follow up will be higher. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> however there has to be possabilities to set the options to a more slowpaced game. else the fans will leave the game rather soon I believe.
 
In one of the newer trailers it showed a ship sailing at the trailer "fast" speed and then they went in to town and you could tell everything was fast fowarded. So I think the ships already sail slowly and the theory of the FF trailer to fit in more content is correct.

I don't remember, it's one where they attack a ship, it surrenders on sight or something, and then the person playing sailed in to town and headed to the pub/tavern and was talking to all the people at `super-human` speeds. Looked FF'd to me.

...If it is, it doesn't really releave me because it is FFed, other videos are not (probably), but the ships still sail fast.

Nah, I didn't do it, I just wrote the text and then Falconer (the admin at Cutlass Isle) got the script and I just put the text there. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="8)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
Also look for a new update.

The thing that worries me a little is that there don't seem to be that much improvements over the original game .
More emphasis on the nice graphics then on the gameplay.

Time will tell.
