Will the quest be set in stone or can the character go off and do other things and complete each tasks as he likes?

How advanced will the economics system be, would it be closer to Port Royal or POTC?

Will smuggling and trading be an option?

Will there be secondry quests on the side aswell as primary quests?
 
Yes, but you can't DUMP stuff if you want to, that's what I'd like, an ability to heave it over the side if it's taking up too much space or slowing you down...

And while we're on the subject of cannon, is there going to be a varied selection of cannon to put on your ships, with a variety of ordinance, like in PotC? OR BETTER? ;)

Also hopefully a good variety of personal weapons too?

And I wondered something about the "being captured and locked up in prison" - what if you don't escape? Will you be sold into bondage or executed? Is that a possibility with this game, or will it just be that you will be "allowed" to escape, that it will be easy in order to move the game along?

Will there be difficulty levels you can choose?
 
Will your character finally be able to a change his/her clothes??
 
When you conquer a settlement will you be able to install yourself as mayor? If so, will you then be able to give out quests?

If you get married in the game will you be able to have children? If so, when your character retires will you be able to play as one of his children?

Are you going to try to make it easy for modders to mod the game? Will you not only release an editor like the one with Morrowind but a whole texture/model/lighting workshop like the one just released for `Half-Life` 2?

Will you be able to land anywhere on an island or just in designated places as in POTC?

Can you GO anywhere on an island in the game, or will there be spots in the scenery that have an "invisible wall" block so you can't go running off the path over a hill or elsewhere?
 
1) Will the game be any part 3d (aka morrowind)
2) Will their be a living economy?
3) If you bcome a pirate do your actions towards certain nations cause them to put a pric on your head?
4) How have land battles been improved
5) Moddable? how much, will it ship with an SDK or some type or editor
6) Would all our prays be answered and you will have an editor like morrowind had?

Keith in the original Pirates! wasn't their something similiar to that? I always wound up in fights with pirate hunters. But a gigantic elaboration on that couldn't hurt.

Q: What does Sid Meier bring to the table for Atari and Firaxis? His vision in games has been absolutely extraordinary over the years. Do your people learn anything from him, and if so what do you see in the terms of the future with Sid and his visions?

Q: What does Firaxis see in terms of expectations of Sid Meier's Pirates? With first person shooters and action games generally leading the market, how does Firaxis expect to beat them with the release of Pirates?
 
Are Atari/Firaxis concerend there will be a consumer backlash considering this is more of a revision rather than a sequal? ( think i read that they even say its only a revision )
 
Do you play any other Pirate Games (like POTC or Port Royale)?
And If yes, why?
Just for fun, or to see how your "enemies" are doing? :?
 
I've not played the first Pirates! game so this may be a stupid question.
What will happen if the AI ship (one who you are fighting) beats you?

Do they come on YOUR ship and fight the actual player?

Yeah you can be boarded, if you lose they throw you overboard and then you washup on some beach and a local crew takes pity on you and you can resume again in a sloop or something,

Or you end up in prison and rot away there for a while then you can resume after that

1) will there be some sort of stat sheet. For example will a record be kept on how many pounds of gunpowder you used during your career and how many miles you have sailed?

2) Will there be some sort of timeline kept showing major events in your pirates career?

3) will a disgruntled crew mutiny?

4) Will I be able to bury treasure?

5) Will I be able to make people walk the plank??
 
There was a ship's log and a career log in the old game to track major events and such. A disgruntled crew would mutiny (and often left me marooned!). There was not a stat sheet before, or plank walking, but you could look for buried treasure (though you could not bury it). I would assume that most of the old game's features will be in the new game.
