Hi guys

As the title says, is it possible to extract the ship models from Naval Action? There are some beatiful ships!

Thanks!

Does TXconvertor support Sea Dog -to each his one. It seems like the textures are in a .tga.tx file format. :)

Are character models also in the GM format? :bounce
Yes, they are. :yes

How does the character rigging/weighting happen in the games?
I haven't added a completely new character model so I don't know. :shrug

:woot Ooh! Does this work vice-versa as well? If so, then it's possible to edit the models and re-add them to the game.
Yes, either with Maya and then making them gm files again or with the TOOL which you don't even need to convert them from gm, but Maya is more powerful.

Here is the link to the TOOL:

As for Maya you will also need the gm plugins and the correct version of the program.

Yup; that's exactly what it's for.
The file formats haven't really changed between PotC, CT, CoAS and TEHO.

Ah. My mistake. I was trying to find the texture on the "destination of converted tx. files" on the left side. No wonder I didnt find any files hehe.

Thank you very much!

Do you know the easiest/best way to retexture? Do you guys use photoshop? Is there any tutorials available maybe?:)

A professional image editor like Photoshop or GIMP, coupled with a model previewing software (where you can save the texture and refresh the preview to see your changes), is the most common, old-school way. There are now so-called live sculpting software that allow you to paint directly on the 3D model and turn that into a texture for you, but they are usually expensive. Blender comes to the rescue in the latest versions, where they, too, have now included this feature in the software. It was used to create the animated short movie Spring (that was its beta test trial).

You'll need HEX-editor too when retexturing.
o_O Please explain.

Really? :woot
I didn't know about it, cool might as well try it at some point, thanks @Cerez for letting me know. :cheers

Hello
except that in Naval Action there are no * .tx files nor * .gm files
The post previous to the one you quoted should explain why those tools have been linked.
The links are as a response to if it is possible to extract models from the storm engine, not "Naval Action".
Anyway, welcome aboard!
