I'll throw this out there...

I once started on making better versions. I did manage to make one improved model, but I never got to finish it. Eventually I'll continue with this, but it depends on when I'll have the time for it. And at the moment I have hardly any time at all.

I just downloaded build 13 and laughed when I saw the silly toy ships that are being used. And then I cried when I couldnt change them in the buildsettings.

Making the ships a BuildSettings.h toggle is impossible. That is why we made it an additional download instead. You can download and install it on top of any game version, including the stock unmodded game and the Build 14 Alpha pack.

there is one problem: the ships from turtuga are based upon the size of the ship, not the nation. this could be misleading. the ships from tortuga are basically miniatures of the largest ship in the fleet, that represents the fleet. i'm not entirely sure if they can be used in the game, if it's possible at all.

In PotC the ships are nation-specific and there is nothing we can do about that. The only thing we can do is choose different ship types for different nations. Using ships from another game will probably be just as hard if not harder as using ships from PotC. When I have time I will finish my improvements on this mod. But my improvements will consist of PotC ships and not ships from another game. I'm not going to mess with that, because I would then first need to figure out how to do it, while I already know how to do it with PotC ships.

i was planning to wait, so i'll do just that. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> i can live with the toy ships.

You can always extract mapships into your game, whcih is what I do. It works fine. Miniture ships from the game not bathtub toys.

Thanks, I downloaded the mapships last night and now the game looks much better. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Why did Akella make the game with those toy ships anyway? They look so odd and out of place in an otherwise very realistic looking game. This decision and some of the decisons they made with AoP makes me wonder if this is some kind of dry russian humor that is being lost in translation. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
