Ideas for the Napoleonic add-on main/side quests , anybody?

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Be sure to make an installer that takes the replaced files and archives them first, so someone can switch back to the original main quests without a full reinstall?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I am sorry... don't know how to make all that installer packing and fancy stuff. I was going to try and submit it as a huge .zip like the build mod.
When it comes to changing quests, I just go into the dialogs and change stuff. For example:

<b>Old File</b>
"Hmm, this news is unsettling.... But how can there be pirates in these waters? \nThe squadron commanded by Captain Tomlison assured me they had caught or sunk all these scoundrels!",
"That's just it, sir. These were not pirates. These were French ships, and French troops.",
"What?! I knew it. His honor, Carl, should have given a warning shot a long time ago. \nPlease, tell me everything. How did you manage to slip away? How many ships, how many guns and troops? Where did they come from? \nAre you sure that these were ships of the French fleet?",
"Absolutely, sir. French flags were the first thing I noticed.",
"This is terrible, terrible! French soldiers holding English soil, and almost no gold in the colony's treasury to wage open war. How we are going to protect our homes? \nI am afraid, ",", that this will affect you and your ship.",
"Me? How?",
"We were talking about the French squadron.",
"Hmm. I don't like the sound of that. I'd better go, sir.",
"You see, captain, after the campaign against the pirates, there are only two warships left in service, and these are too valuable to spare on such a venture. In light of this, I hearby issue the order to commandeer and arm private vessels wherever needed for the defense of our lands. \nI am sorry, captain, but your ship will not be exempt from this order.",
"What? I'll not let you commandeer my ship!",
"Ah, yes...yes.... So what kind of ships were used to lay siege to the fort? What kind of arms did they have? How many soldiers?",
"I counted five ships... a 24-gun brig, a 20-gun schooner.... The rest of the ships were obscured by the fog.",

"That's just it, sir. These were not pirates. These were French ships, and French troops.",
"What?! I knew it. Admiral de Grasse should have given a warning shot a long time ago. \nPlease, tell me everything. How did you manage to escape? How many ships, how many guns and troops? Where did they come from? \nAre you sure that these were ships of the French squadron?",
"Absolutely, sir. The Tricolours were the first thing I noticed.",
"This is most horrible! French soldiers holding English soil, and almost no gold in the colony's treasury to wage open war. How we are going to protect our homes? \nI am afraid, "
", that this will affect you greatly.",
"Me? How?",
"We were talking about the French squadron.",
"Hmm. I don't like the sound of that. I'd better go, sir.",
"You see, lieuteant, after the campaign against the pirates, there are only two warships left in service, and these are too valuable to spare on such a venture. In light of this, I hearby declare war against France for the defense of our lands. \nI am most overjoyed, lieutenant, to promote you to commander.",
"What? I thank you sir!",
"Ah, yes...yes.... So what kind of ships were used to lay siege to the fort? What kind of arms did they have? How many soldiers?",
"I counted six ships... three two-deckers, seventy-fours by the looks of them, two frigates and a brig-of-war.",

About a certain outlandish aspect of the game.. this artefact from khael roa.. can it be made to have any use/role in the P&E after acquiring it or is this too farfetched?

It would be better if the artefact could be changed to something more befitting of the era. I mean, specifically, the spear of destiny/the spear of longinus, which Napoleon might have tried to acquire whilst on a conquest in Europe. Changing the aztec/mayan artefact to this is the most appropriate modification to pursue with the main quest, because then it'll have bigger potential for involvement in political intrigue. There are actual artefacts that claim to be the Spear, thus this option has its roots in reality as well as the quasi-supenatural area.

Perhaps the artifact could be changed to something like a chest that contains an amazing amount of treasure... whoever finds it would have enough money to almost double the size of their navy. This explains everyone's interest in it. (Got the idea thinking about Treasure Island and National Treasure)

That sounds reasonable enough to be set within the bounds of reality. Who's stash is it though? Boneys? Or a sortof collective pirate stash?

maybe the artefact could be an invention, like, dunno, a gun sight, or a flintlock fitting for all of your cannons, or summat' like that <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

P.S. Can we redo the cinematics?

[To Lord Nelson about the movies] Don't think so. Its best if we just get rid of them.
If it is a stash of gold or something, maybe its something like all the treausre Cortez had to trade with the natives. A sum so great... its unimaginable! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

<img src="http://www.nvo.com/treasure/nss-folder/pictures/Handful%20of%20gold.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
The Spanish treasure fleet... lost at sea.
The gold is out there... but where?
Boney wants it, England wants it, your President wants it...
Who will find it first?
And if you do find it...
Can you defend your objective?

But this is the quest for P&E. So the <i>Pearl</i> needs to become some sort of French ship commissioned by Bonaparte to fing the lost gold.

a french MoW possibly also carrying something of value-- so that you get rewarded for your conquest w/ something extra. It could possibly be carrying dingnitaries/documents/more artefacts/gold.

You want to attack a French ship? France was the greatest enemy of England during Napoleonic time and I would consider that country would be rather natural ally of early US... Have I missed something? Or I'm writing such nonsense that I should be slap with history book?

In the war of 1812 France and the US were in a quasi-war!
Also, what good is a special reward if the just ends right after you get it?

The new quest does not have to be in line with the old quest
u can have different ships and different triggers alltogether
infact, the whole black pearl at the end could be different...i think.
you just wouldnt win...ever. but the changes could be soo insane.
im thinking of a storyline that would incorporate those four points that were so kindly given

some sort of william turner story almost
kid crossing from europe
goes merchant.
realizes its not a good $$ maker
turns pirate
does a good deed
hired by the navy
sent to kill pirates

it could work.

Hmm, possibly, though I think players would like it a little better if you could do this in addition to a naval storyline and a pirate storyline.

Navy (Sort of like the origional):
French squadron attacks Oxbay, Lieutenant takes command and escapes on a packet ship.
Informs Admiral (replaces Governor) and is promoted to Commander.
Takes sloop of war back to Oxbay to observe the enemy.
Returns to Admiral and is told to intercept an ammunition ship.
Returns and joins squadron to liberate Oxbay. (You actually get to retake it this time!)
After battle, you are sent to harass nearby islands along the coast. No particular target, just given a period of time to attack as many ships as possible, given prize money according to number of vessels taken/sunk. Size of prize is a factor as well.
Told to go and find a certain vessel carrying French military documents, such as maps, blueprints, etc.
You learn of a certain lost treasure of Cortez that was mentioned in the journal of Napoleon himself!
Sent to find treasure, whoever finds it will have enough gold to double their navy's size.
You run in with a certain French frigate, who is also after the treasure. You battle off and on to stall the other and find it first.
You get it?

Pirate(Decided to base this off DMC for those PotC fans):
You are at Oxbay, a pirate who happens to be a close friend attacks. The ship you were a passenger on runs for Redmond.
You are summoned to the Governor's mansion and told that someone heard you talking and because the pirate was a friend, that you are a pirate as well. To prove that you're not, you must go and hunt the pirate down. You are given a corvette and a Naval captain is sent to accompany you and keep you under a watchful eye.
You return to Oxbay to figure out where the pirate could have sailed to, which sends you to Tortuga.
You are about to anchor, but a squall strikes and the ship, captain, and crew are destroyed.

Its getting late here, so I'll add to this post tomorrow.

sounds interesting....some of it seems a little hard to do...but nothing cant be done...yet...

it can work, yet i need to get the entire storyline down before i can start ne thing, so that nothing rly gets mixed up...the right way to do it. but i like it. good idea.

i'll see wut i can round up.
