Help my save keeps crashing

Yeah, you're luck is low so smuggling isn't too good of an idea for you right now , but even still, in any scenario, the game should not crash...

is there any way to tell which dialogue choice the soldiers will respond well to?
It seems random.
Also I lost 40 rep
for picking 1 of the choices.
Seems a little harsh for getting caught smuggling
once.

uh, no. smuggling actually IS a crime, so losing reputation for it is perfectly sensible, especially if you had a reputation for not being a criminal before. as for the dialogue, it might be random, but it probably depends on your leadership skill as well.

Yeah, but losing 40 rep, that's the equivalent of killing everyone you see on the city streets basically...:urgh

which is, in fact, supported by the rumors. the guards don't give a crap about you killing people. besides, it happens so often by accident that it would be needlessly frustrating if the reputation hit would be too big.
