OK, doing a backup got silly on the COAS folder. People have been using it for personal means and also using it as a file server for illegal downloads. I've now cut all ftp access to the servers but I will leave it there until the hosting subscription ends (not sure exactly, around 5-6months i think)

You can still download everything by going through the index page.

The FTP was one of the things that helped set PA apart from other places, it is a sad thing to see it go. It isn't just us though, thanks to script kiddies and "l337 h4x0r5", FTP's have been steadily disappearing everywhere over the past decade or so. Now we have clouds everywhere.

This is so annoying and shows why the ftp needed to be moderated, the other way would be to allow only those who are trusted to upload files to it and anyone else has to find another way like mediafire etc.

Now we have problems because i am working on trying to get a stable version of the mod for COAS and the mod size is 1.3GB's and i can't upload it to any sites, so this brings an end to mod work on COAS for me because i can't share the work with anyone, i wanted to release a beta version of the mod to try and get the community involved in some way or other and hopefully bring back some interest in the modding community but with no way to share this work i feel that COAS has seen its final mod (GOF 1.2) released.

Wouldn't it have been possible to have the COAS modderators in charge of policing the FTP, only letting those who are apart of the mod team gain access to the FTP, i feel without some sort of server we will not see any big work done on COAS.

Just so you're aware, SkyDrive offers 7GB and I think Google Drive offers 5GB (both for free).
You can also upload the files to ModDB, which doesn't have a limit AFAIK. That's what Pieter does these days.

Ok thanks guy's, i have added it to dropbox, just got to wait for it to sync now before i can share the link. Because its getting late now i doubt it will be ready by the time i'm ready to call it a night. If it is though i will get the link posted asap.

Thanks again for the help guy's.:onya

Check your PMs and see if that helps. It isn't meant for permanent storage, but you can upload to the ModDB from there; they allow 2 GB files.
