did someone build already times a city?

I'm sorry, what do you mean, Yo Ho Ho??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I´m fascinated from your description of the game intro. foggy british town and so on.

now i thought to my self, it must be possible to create european towns. like Portsmouth, Brest, Cadiz, Lisboa and a dutch one of course.
but we cant take the caribbean towns and now i would model a european town for testing.

based on CoAS. start in europe some first missions. leaving european waters (loading the CoAS Caribbean) and so on.

what do you mean??

So you'd want to make a new town model? That sounds interesting. Nobody here ever actually made a new location model at all though.
So I'd recommend you'd just try to see if you can get a location working into the game at all. Just some sort of floor with boxes or something.
Just to check you can make it work.

I can help you with the codes for PotC, but that is the only game I can help with. Should be similar to AoP/CoAS though.
It would be great if we could make new town locations from scratch. Oohh, the possibilities... *dreams away*

You add some locations to PotC, i mean. Or not??

when we get a new town in PotC it must work for AoP too, i think. and then we make a step in the right direction.

We did add modified towns into the game and AoP/CoAS ones, but never one made 100% from scratch.
As far as PotC is concerned, the code shouldn't be much of a problem, once the model is made. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

o.k. than i build a town. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

If possible, could you do a quick test to make some sort of location model at all? I'd like to know for sure if it can be done at all.
Would be too bad if you made a town model only to find it won't work in the game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Of course. but i think when the first PA town is finished it finds a way in game. first it would be "Cube" town <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> for testing and finding the right scale.

Build with 3DS 2008 and converting with Maya 5.1 ( i hate Maya).

I hope the conversion will work properly. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Welcome to "CubeTown". the first try and no problems. I would model the first European Town.

As silly as that look, that is COOOL! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
I'll be very much looking forward to new location models then. I've got too much ideas boiling up already.
Perhaps I'd better keep them to myself for now though; it's YOU doing the modeling, so it should be you doing the deciding too.

That is the Amsterdam Dam Square in the late 17th century. I found it here: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Amsterdam" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Amsterdam</a>
No other useful pictures though, unfortunately. I'll see if I can find some more.

Here's some cool painting too, but you don't see much of the ports: <a href="http://www.sailingwarship.com" target="_blank">http://www.sailingwarship.com</a>
Is there something about this picture that looks.... familiar to anyone...? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Great!!! I am so sick of the Caribbean <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
This is what I wanted all the time. And if you can use 3DS as an editor, I could probably use the ones I am used to.

But that would be thousands of miles of coastline to make europe, would´nt it? London, Amsterdam, Lisboa, Gibraltar, Venice..aaargh dare I dream?..Copenhagen! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> And Lübeck of course.
