Pirate_KK is working on Build 14 Alpha 8, but I also made a new game version based on whatever files I could lay my greedy little hands on. The installation procedure is rather complicated, but you can try it if you want.

1) Build 14 Alpha 7
2) All Maximus' files from the PotC Build FTP in the <i>-=MAXIMUS=-</i> folder:
- CORPSEMODE_4_FIX.rar
- corpsemode_fix_plus_decks.rar
- BuildSetting for 14.7 alpha.rar
- Characters models and fixed animations.rar
- Based on 14.7 alpha.rar
- BuildSetting for 14.7 alpha [update 23.08.07].rar
- billion_fixes [04.09.07].rar
- addings [06.09.07].rar
- quicksave.rar
- quicksave_final_update.rar
3) FilmShips mod from the PotC Files FTP in the main directory
4) Davy Jones model from the PotC Files FTP in the <i>Bartolomeu o Portugues</i> folder (make sure the files go into the right folders)
5) <i>Charlestown 2.rar</i>, <i>Marine officers + redcoats Thomas the Terror.rar</i> and <i>Beckett.zip</i> (make sure the files go into the right folders) from the PotC Files FTP in the <i>Thomas the Terror</i> folder
6) <i>b14a6_SLiBships_v1_KevAtl.zip</i> and <i>b14a6_SLiBweapons_v1_KevAtl.zip</i> from the PotC Files FTP in the <i>KevinAtlanta</i> folder
7) <i>09-11 PB Merge.zip</i> from the PotC Build FTP in the main directory

This is not an easy install and not a perfect one either, but it should get you somewhere near a playable Pre Alpha 8 game version that allows you to test some of the latest mods.

<i>Included are, amongst others:</i>
- BuildSettings interface in the Options menu
- Ability to use multiple player profiles
- QuickSave re-enabled
- New ships and weapons
- Charlestown added to QC (see attached images)
- "First Contact" quest that starts at the Grand Cayman townhall (level must be 6 or higher)
- Modified main quest

I will try to put this all in one downloadable file at the soonest possible occasion, but that will be a couple more days.

I suppose so. I'll try to make a full download tomorrow.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Did anyone have a look at this yet?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I did downloaded all that, but haven't install it yet - will do soon.

I tested the QuickSave in my latest test game version and it appears to work just fine! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

I installed the whole thing smoothly, but only found a problem with beckett.zip :

It doesnt unzip in the proper folders, but zips in the main library. I believe the files should go in RESOURCES\MODELS

- the .tx files -> TEXTURES
- the .gm files -> CHARACTERS
- the .ani files -> ANIMATION

And my guess for "h_cutler_beckett.gm" must be -> HEADS

Now, I have some mysterious files left in the main library called "Brothel_locators.gm" and "answers.txt" that I don´t know where should go?

You are quite right on the Beckett ZIP. That's where the files should go. Brothel_locators.gm goes into RESOURCE\MODELS\Locations\AOPtowns\Inside\brothel . Answers.txt I never heard of. I don't think you need that file.

My apologies for the complicated and imperfect installation process. Unfortunately I had no time to make the Alpha 7 Plus Full verson this weekend; it turned out I was busier than I expected. I'll do it at the first possible occasion, but the amount of schoolwork is also picking up again. ARGH! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

To me, it seems like you´ve got 3 options:

1. Be sick tomorrow -> Can´t compute. Problem escalated!
2. Get run over a bus with full vacancy in the hospital for several months -> Can´t compute. Person inexpendable. MOD halted..
3. Burn your school -> problem FIXED!

i vote for option 3. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

it doesn't sound as good. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

To be honest, I never got 14.7 alpha to work, even though I followed the installation procedure thoroughly. I got that runtime error.
Once I unzipped the "billion_fixes" file once again on top of it all, the runtime error disappeared and I could play.

I dont know if any of the bugs i encounter now, is related to this, but when I am killed for instance, nothing happens. I dont wake up in the tavern or a cutscene shows, I am just lying there.

The billion_fixes file is meant to be installed on top of Alpha 7. These are fixes to many of Maximus' post-Alpha 7 mods which are in that same folder on the Build FTP. Install ALL files in that folder in order of date (see first post in this thread) and see if that solves anything.

I compiled a Build 14 Alpha 7 Plus file that can be installed on top of Alpha 6. Filesize? A whopping <b>771 MB!</b> Of course that is with all language files and music packs included, but I think that the final Build 14 is going to be one of the biggest modpacks ever created.

So now the question is: How to compile the Alpha 7 Plus and eventually the Alpha 8 version so that the upload/download-size will remain somewhat reasonable? Obviously I should leave out the music packs and language files, which would decrease the filesize by a couple of hundred MBs. Should the new editions be installed on top of Alpha 7 to decrease download size? Or on Alpha 6, making the file larger? Or on Build 13, making the file even a couple of hundred MBs larger? Or a stand-alone installer which would be so large it would not be able to fit on one normal CD? I think we have a bit of a complicated problem here that we will need to seriously ponder about. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Wonder if its possible to make it so all the language stuff is optional. Have a base install which is English, however each language is an expansion pack to download that is installed ontop of the base install. Most people will only want ONE language, and judging from the majority of people here, we all know English, so it could be the base install language.

I dont know how hard that would be to setup to eliminate all the language files except for what you want to download in addition to the base expansion pack.

As for music... I thought those were seperate downloads before? People downloaded them if they wanted them...

yeah.....there's NO way i can download something like that. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> i wouldn't sleep all night because my computer's so damned loud. besides that, my hard drive isn't even big enough to install everything on it.
