I still play this game a few times a week. The game although repetitive is quite fun. While the community is almost dead there's still enough activity in <a href="http://hookedonpirates.com/" target="_blank">http://hookedonpirates.com/</a> to keep me interested in the game.
 
I still do on occasion. Been installed on my computer since it was released. Though I was a bit disappointed in most of the mods.

I neevr played it in my life. And I hardly ever played any other pirate games either. One day of AoP; a couple of days VERY buggy Buccaneers (crashed upon firing my cannons) and nothing else.
 
We got a copy for my nephew last Christmas. It is what he actually wanted. Found it at Target of all places. I think it was about $10. I thought I had read somewhere they were thinking about releasing it for console machines.

I have never played the game myself. My first sailing ship game was "The Ancient Art of War at Sea". Back in early 90's. It had 16 point of sail, a scenario editor and a map builder. You could capture ships bring them back to port and repair them. It had supply routes that needed protection. It was written in x86 Assembler. After that I played with flight sims until Age of Sail by Talonsoft was released. I tried the "Wooden Ships & Iorn Men" demo but could never get into turn based games. I picked up "Privateers Bounty" in a bargain bin several years ago. Then POTC.

I play it once or twice a week. It's a good stress-reliever, and is one of the few games with nice graphics that run well on here.

I'm actually rather hoping you're soon finally going to get Alpha 9 to work <i>as intended</i>.
There's bugs, sure enough, but it's fairly playable when it manages to install the way it should.

I have it for my Psp .

I still have it for PC but I believe I unistalled it .

I still have Aop --lol and the Build mod --I can't let them go for some reason .

Every 6 months or so I like to practice dancing...

A computer game skill that is not found anywhere else that I know of.

Hard to master. The rest of the game is second nature and not interesting anymore.

Dig it out every 8 months or so and play it for a while till its time to move on again. Wish the top ten pirates would escape again after you catch them and go pillaging once more, only this time looking to take revenge on ya for taking their gold. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p2" border="0" alt="pirate3.gif" />

Sid should have made this game more mod friendly <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />.
 
<a href="http://www.addictedtopirates.com/" target="_blank">http://www.addictedtopirates.com/</a> has a number of small mods, and is home to the PHTrainer. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> I wish there was a way to expand the map to include all of the world - sure, it wouldn't be realistic, but launching raids half the world away, and coming back to the Caribbean to spend all your riches might be fun, provided you didn't run into any unfriendlies on the way back. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I want to be able to make my own pirate haven. Why can all the other named pirates can but not me?

If we do expand the map we'd need new nations too. I'd also like to see a pirate faction. We should be able to make a pirate empire!


Other possible nations:
China, The 13 colonies (will eventually become the USA), Sweden, Germany, SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAA!, Japan, Russia, .......
