I have not finished the main quest yet, because there is so much wonderful stuff to see and do! Oxbay is a knockout with its new locations and “Fortâ€. When did y'all get into the fort, can I get into the fort in every city? All the new characters are superb. My wife particularly likes the new female characters Fanielle, 33_TG5D and 33_Blazie and wants to know if more are coming. I must also complement everyone on the astounding collection of swords, pistols, tattoos and other fantastic items. To say y'all have been merely busy sense build 9 would be insulting. I would say that artisans have been creating and their work is breathtaking.
I had a few thoughts I wanted to share with everyone. Please bear with me I have been away for a while, if these matters have been dealt with before I apologize.
Out of all the new ships I specially like the “gunboatâ€. If I desired to attempt to mod a ship skin what programs might I need? Currently all I have is Microsoft paint.
In keeping to realism I noticed there were no loose cannons. Ships during that time period, depending on the cannon, would have to secure them properly, because if they broke loose during a storm it would destroy decks, life, other cannons and possibly if not secured sink the ship. Such cannon securing could be linked to someone's cannon ability and skill. Also in keeping to realism, where are the tools for ship repair? Any ship that puts to sea with planks sail cloth and no tools is destined for a hard voyage. Furthermore sometimes a sailor would repel boarders with whatever he/she had in hand (chain, hammer, axe, crowbar, wooden mallet etc.). Also these tools would be found very frequent in colonies, everyone needed them.
Is there any way to limit the number of items that can be picked up and/or carried? My character has his primary sword and pistol, 10 healing potions, $5 million in goal coins, a variety of 7 other kinds of pistols, 14 varying degrees of swords, 5 grenades, several rings, 22 gold nuggets, 3 suits of common armor, several idols and assorted items and his pockets don't seem to bulge at all. You think with that many swords, pistols and grenades in his pocket would eventually make him a eunuch. How about a backpack, belt pouch or something to hold a certain number of items.
In the game there are monkeys, rats and birds. How about dogs, every colony had them. Guard dog's were very useful animals for fort's and prisons. Unfortunately as some people attempted to discard them packs of wild dogs would grow outside the colony walls. How about allowing rats to have rabies, hmmmmmm a dungeon full of rats sounds interesting, maybe a few hundred or so. Snakes were also indigenous creatures to the islands. Historically it was amazing the kind of livestock they shiped to the colonies, chickens, pigs, dogs, horses, foxes for hunting etc..
In all the items that ships carry cannon balls, mahogany, rum, wine etc. how come there is no salt? Salt was still the primary preservative and a useful cure. Also tea and dried meats were also frequently shipped especially to the English colonies.
I noticed in the game that I could receive a letter of mark from different colonies and the more enemy ships I destroy the higher my ranking. Does this also apply to Pirates? If I joined one of the various Pirate gangs, sank enemy ships, would I grow in prestige? Do you have a smuggling mod based upon the same principle? The more illegal goods I traffic the greater my prestige and the more I will be called on to smuggle greater amounts or hire prohibited and illicit contraband? Mmmmmmmmmm think of it I could be Captain liquor ship Chief smuggler of rum, wine and ale. By the way I just had a great glass of merlo, a fine median body
I hope this isn't going too far but would it be possible, permissible to utilize ships, items, adventures and characters from Sea Dogs? Not to say that POTC doesn't have enough magnificent adventures, characters and items. But the idea of bringing to great games together is plausible. For instance that fellow who was chief of the pirate island in Sea Dogs would seem to make a great Chief smuggler in POTC. He seemed to be such a nice terror, capable of swindling, cheating and killing.
If these matters have already been looked into before I do apologize <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> .
