Well, ye been playing Pirates! too long:

When you book a real vacation to take a vacation to a deserted island to wait months or years for a ship to pass along, and make ye Captain so you can go out and start plundering in the world again.

I did it my way!

Ye, been playing Pirates! too long when:

When you start `goggle-eyeing` the Governor's Daughters too much, who are wives of the Firaxis team, and you really want Sid as the bartender to serve you a drink out of your computer monitor.



When you go out to a dance club, playing R&R, and you want to dance with a lady, the same way as you dance in the game!~

When you want Jeff as the mysterious traveller to haggle you with the price of the special items in the game, and you want to pay more for those items! (A lot more!)

When you are sailing and right mouse click to use your spyglass on ye ship to try and view a `close-up` of the Governor's Daughter and look for her while sailing in or out of Port!

Ye know ye been playing Pirates too long:

When you start seeing ol' Pirates! Soul Apparitions in your freakin' existence, and you wonder if they are comin' after ye!

And a flock of birds are flying low and in front and top of ye vehicle, and you think that you are out in the Caribbean bein' ready to be conducked on or a bird is flying into ye face!

Ye, been playing Pirates! too long when:

The game is driving ye nuts! (as you wanted to feel like a Pirates, didn't you?)

(Where is my lost relative, how come I can't find the X on the map, why, oh, why, oh why is the game treating me this way? etc!)

You've played too much when:

-You obtain either a pirate accent (not sure how to spell it, pronounced ak sent), or a accent of a country you play for (same thing is happening to me. I am obtaining a sort of weird English Accent after reading the entire Hornblower series and then halfway through the O'Brian series).

-You want to start carrying a pistol around to threaten people with so they will leave you alone.

-You start having dreams of playing the game

-You start using dance moves and ways of wooing govenor's daughters on girls in real life

-You think you could be a leader of men in real life, but in reality, you work in some cubicle and are afraid of human contact outside of the computer.

-When you start getting racist against your common foes in the game

-When you try and save your family members in real life, who are only at their homes watching sunday football

-When you start to go blind looking at the computer screen

-When your computer desk gets burried in stuff like candy wrappers, books, dishes, and food.

-When you actually go try grog, and actually like it

-When you try to swing on a sort of rope like on a ship and slam into a wall

-When you and your drinking buddies try forming a pirate gang, and 5 hours later at 2 am in the morning, are out in inflatable boat in the local lake or the ocean, freezing and wet.

-When people start to wonder why they don't see you anymore

-When you start to have the hygene of a common sailor on a ship

I could probably think of more, but I think that is enough. Just one more thing:

WARNING: Do not drink or do drugs during the game, the above things have a better chance of happening.
 
When you grab a bed post and sheet and go out in ye rowboat, attacking the yachts out in the harbor, with a fishing pole or an oar yelling -- I'm a bloody Pirate and ye are in me way!

When you start hussling the Beautiful Govenor's Daughter who may be in real life a daughter of a Atari Executive, and he wants ye head handed back to him on a silver platter!

When you look for and find the box, disk and manual for the 1988 copy of Pirates! for the Atari ST that you wasted your younger days on....
