I have some sparetime this month, and instead of starting some new modproject I thought I'd better try to close gaps in the Modpack. IMHO we have made good progress there lately (correct me if I'm wrong): transfer bug fixed, ammo mod and flagraising work fine, thanks to JRH and KK. So what do you think should be tackled next? Any really nagging or gamestopping bugs left? (excuse me if I have missed earlier bugreports) Screwface <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> , would you like some support with all the new islands?
 
Don´t know if this has been reported. When blocking in a fight my character slides to the left. Now that´s ok but he continues to slide even behind the scenes, if the blocking button is <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> pressed.
 
I think that's probably caused because either you changed the sidestep controls or because the controls are not set to default before installing. I would recommend first resetting the controls to default and then changing the controls to what you want. However, I would also recommend not changing the sidestep controls in the game. I once tried to see what happens, but it doesn't work right. If you change the sidestep controls, when you press the sidestep button, you will be sliding to the side, but if you stop pressing the button, you won't stop siding. I reckon you could try changing it in init_pc.c though... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

To CCC: Maybe you could look through the <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php?showtopic=6173" target="_blank">Major Post Build 12 Bugs</a> and <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php?showtopic=6085" target="_blank">Post Build 12 Mods Bug List</a> thread to see what is still not working properly? Some bugs that would be nice to see solved: Excellent items not showing up in the trading interface and officers reverting to their old skin after doing a transfer with them after you changed their skin. The second bug has something to do with armor, but I don't know exactly what.
What also needs to be done is having the ammo mod's itembox.c file merged into Maximus' latest itembox.c file. I don't know if that has been done yet.

These two files need to be merged somehow. I think the code for only 6 bullets and 6 powder being allowed into an item box would also be in there.

If you like, could you also make blacksmiths repair both swords and guns? I once tried it, but didn't yet manage. This wouldn't really be a bugfix, but it would be adding a required feature into the game. Another idea: Rewrite the tutorial to explain some of the new features in the Post Build 12 mods.

I wished I had time to be very active with PotC modding at the time, but unfortunately I have got repatitions next week, so I won't have much time until next week. I will try to help what I can, but I'll only be able to actively help after that.

Another bug that has bothered me for quite some time: There are some location on land where there are always enemies, instead of random generated enemies. Examples of these locations are the location in front of the Greenford mines, Isla Muelle shore and the cave behind the Douwesen waterfall. Instead of pirates or skeletons attacking you there, there are regular citizens who attack you, including women. I'd like it if that could be fixed; I don't want to kill citizens. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

I reinstalled POTC and the last ModPack, but I still have game crash during sword fight.

The game crash a little bit less than the past, about 1 time to 5 the game crashed during a fight.

The logs doesn't show any usefully information, only system.log show everytime the same information after a crash:

I have done lots of lots of land fights in the game, but never experienced a crash. I have seen the "Can't load texture resource\textures\.tx" error being reported in my game as well, but it never crashed the game. I don't know why the game is even looking for that file. No file exists that only has an extension but no filename! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
 
Sorry, Giuliootto, I don't have any crashes during mass landfights either, and, as Pieter said, those missing texture reports shouldn't crash your game. Unless your computer, OS or configuration is somehow more sensible to such things. Do you have access to some other computer where you could test this?

BTW, what weapons and enemies are involved? Maybe there are certain defect models which search for a texture with no filename. Try to use only stock weapons (switch the weaponsmod of in buildsettings.h) and engage only certain enemies. Maybe that way you could determine what causes those crashes.

Sorry that I can't offer more help, but in this case I haven't the slightest idea what could be the cause.

Dear CCC I'm following your suggestion (switch the weaponsmod of in buildsettings.h), and still now I haven't crash.

I've found two bug:

1) When raise a enemy flag (eg franch flag) and approcching an enemy ship the music stop playing (I've already installed last Pirate_KK patch).

2) There is a new mod that generate a random Pirate attack in town (I adore this new feature <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> ) but if an attak is generate inside a taver then the smuggler (for contrabband) and Tavern owner didn't response to my request. I try to exit and enter from the taver, leave the island and return to it, but nothing change.

Another little enchangement could be to flip the compass in the navigation mode, because with the new island map the cardinal point are inverted compared with the one in the arcipelago map.

Great to hear that you have less crashes.

I believe that one has been reported before. Screwface said he had a fix for it and will contain it in his next mod update. I don't have the fix though, so it won't be in the next modpack update, unless Screwface will send it to me. But he is away this week.

To CCC: That fixed windrose should be added to the new islands mod only, right?

if you want to fix the dialog failures and the smuggler bug after tavern brawl, find the following line in the PROGRAM\LandEncounters\LEnc_monsters.c file :

if(rand(10)==0){LAi_LocationFightDisable(&locations[FindLocation(Pchar.location)], false);Random_Raid("smugglers", 5, PIRATE,"enemy","enemy","TAVERNBRAWL !!!!");}

and replace the second "enemy" by "friend" :

if(rand(10)==0){LAi_LocationFightDisable(&locations[FindLocation(Pchar.location)], false);Random_Raid("smugglers", 5, PIRATE,"enemy","friend","TAVERNBRAWL !!!!");}

After that, attackers will only attack you and other citizens in the tavern (smugglers,....) won't stand up to fight anymore !

"Screwface" Are you telling me, that even with your fix...that my game that I have been playing for weeks now, is "corrupt" if these Taverns are all messed up with the Smugglers and other people!....Is there no way to set this back??
 
You will have to start a new game with the next modpack update anyway. There is too much new to work on an old savegame.
