Unkillable Fort??

you mean moveing the ship around? Well i got a fast ship too shes very fast but the warship....idont think its speed will du much diffrence, i could try to get farer awey from the fort anmd try shooting from there......hmmm <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
Try doing this mission with a Battleship with 12lb cannons and only about... 15% hull. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
 
nope, and the wind has to match, what if the wind blows into land? against the fort, then theres no escape.
 
LOl i get "11" in winds when i leave the port, no matter how long i stay at the tavern it stays that way.

Anyone noticed that sometimes when you lay anchor in a bay near a town your ship gets transformd to the town port when you leave the bay? thats happend to me and now i gotta get out of greenford under fire :x
 
I am at this same point. I have been sail from the lighthouse to the fort in realtime. I have two frigates and a corvette. I loaded the frigates to the gills with wood, bombs and sail cloth. I make trip past the fort with one frigate patching all the way, then swap to the second. Usually I can kill the fort with the second frigate. I find that if I play third person I have a better chance of killing the fort. I also sail with my keel nearly dragging in the sand.

My problem is that after landing troops I end up being the only person on my side in the fort. I get surounded and attacked by 3 soliders at once then die. Which means I have to start the battle all over again.

Thanks for the pointer on cannon balls vs bombs will try them this weekend.

Any advice on landing troops?

Before you land troops on the fort, and depending on the circumstances, you might want to sail to your supporting ships, close enough to where you can get the transfer goods screen, and move men from those ships to your own, possibly even letting those ships sink because they have no crew so you can bring more men with you to assault the fort.

Iggly is right re trying to get into doorways or finding a bottleneck, but remember you can take a healing potion while you are holding down the Ctrl or block button, so bring a supply of these. When you get the build you will find that the disconcerting door effect during fort assaults becomes a thing of the past.

Friends , I wonder where is the difficulty to capture a fort ?? I captured it once with battleship and in a new game with a frigate without taking single shot from the fort <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

That's why you ended up like that.
 
I had a sort of the same thing happen when you go Isla Muella to get your crew, ships and meet with Dannelle. Since I had a pirate ship I did a little pirateing and built up my money supply. I was had a trade mission that took me to IM. If I anchor in the harbor I never get a chance to complete the trade mission. So Sailed t'other side of the island and walked. Finished the trade mission and then sold the pirate ship to boot. Then went out to the port to meet the crew. But found out afterwards that if I left and came back to get supplies or just turned around and went back into the store I could not leave by the port. I had also purchsed <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />: a batttleshipl Found out later after overwriting the save that all I have to do is walk back to where I left the pirate ship to find my ships. Bummer. Have not been able to buy another battleship.

Taking Greenford Fort

Ahoy der !!!

I finally figured out how to take Greenford Fort. After you drop Daneille off at the lighthouse, get back on your ship and turn left (port) to get to greenford. If you attack oxbay fort it will be invinceable. Using cannonballs with 32 pound cannons also helps. Remember to aim in first person sailing mode. When the cursor(spyglass) turns red shoot.
