Treasure Quests

The place where the treasure is hidden. It is not a bug really, but it's just so ridiculously small that it takes you five minutes to open the chest AFTER you found it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

When I go ashore to find the treasure, it takes 10 minutes to load. I can't wait that long. On QC, my computer freezed after I tried to moor at the shore (where the chest is of course). And I've experienced some problems when trying to go inland at certain locations. I have a locked passage and just can't go through. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Oh, and I'm using Build 13

I've installed it yesterday and the bug with the locked path is fixed <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> (I just had to start all over again <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> )

Long loading time is, however, still present.

When do the long loading time occur? Have you got any idea why they might be so long? I haven't encountered long loading times for quite a while in my own game. Except when I start a new game in the Build 14 Alpha with the Auto Skill System enabled; that does take a while.

Perhaps. If you have memory.mp in your main PotC folder, remove it and see if that improves anything. If you don't have that file, we have at least established that is not the cause. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

OK, I've changed this post.

Looks like I had a renamed backup of Memory.mp file.

With this removed as well, there no lag in going in and out of map mode, and only a small lag in saving a game at sea.

Well I have to admit that I experience long loading times when starting a new game, when loading any of the saves or mooring somewhere, but still even though that annoys me, it's nothing compared to this. And I'm sure that the computer isn't the cause. I'll check that file and report here soon.

actually i think the computer COULD be the cause. it might meet the specifications easily, but it could be a certain type of video card or something like that that's causing the problem. but it's only a possibility. i'm not saying at all that it would be this, only that it could be. in fact, i have no idea. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> just presume that i'm talking rubbish again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

very wise indeed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> i think you where the thing that made me as nutty as i am now, for some reason! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

GOOD NEWS, I've deleted memory.mp file and the loading time significantly decreased! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> Everything is now faster. I even had to wait when trading with goods. (the trading screen would open after, say, 20 seconds - now it's almost instantly!!) Well, thx a lot. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

What is this memory.mp file for anyway if it does nothing but creates lag?

Memory.mp is some kind of debugging aid for the original developers. None of us has ever figured out how to use it, far as I know.

It looks like the game even uses /misuses a renamed version. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
Perhaps it's the mp file extension.

I just got rid of it and the game loads in and out of sea/map mode quickly. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

i wish i could find it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> where should it be?

Memory.mp?

It is in the root of POTC

C:\Program Files\"Bethesda or whatever publisher"\POTC\Memory.mp

If it's NOT there, it is a GOOD thing. I don't have it either. Never had it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />
