There is no program to translate the game. It IS possible to translate the game, but it's a lot of work, because it requires you to translate a lot of interface strings, questbook entries and dialog files. Perhaps <a href="http://babelfish.altavista.com" target="_blank">Babelfish</a> can help, but it tends to come up with really wrong translation. Still it's better than nothing, I suppose.

I mean, if they speak their own language slowely sound's a bit same.. i mean: iv'e seen many film's there they speek italian, and some there they speek french.. it's fairly alike <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
I wouldn't call them the same. They might be about as much the same as Dutch and German are the same: NOT! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />
 
have to disagree on that one. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_confused.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="icon_confused.gif" /> german and dutch aren't THAT different, though there are indeed some significant differences, there are also a few rather big similarities.

i'm not sure. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_confused.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="icon_confused.gif" /> i thought spanish and italian, though it sounds roughly the same, was quite different from each other.
 
spanish and italian have similarities, but they are different. they would understand some words but they couldnt really speak to eachother <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

portuguese no way, and french no way, its worlds apart <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Hello everyone could ya tell me why u always use bebelfish for translating stuff ??? Why not use a pragram like SYSTRAN 6 PREMIUM TRANSLATOR
its mutch more acurate than web translators .
 
Why use the web translator? Becuase it's freely available. We don't have Systran. Personally I only use web translators for understanding what a text means or as dictionary, not for doing proper translations, because they don't do that very well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
 
Hi folks!

Not long ago I stumbled across this Build thingie. As I prefer to play without having to consult my dictionary every ten minutes I thought it would be a nice pastime to translate this Build 13 into German. Translating the dialogs for example isn´t a problem (but a lot of work)...the problem is that I am a computer illiterate and need some help. I have some questions and hope that somebody can answer them.

1) Dialogs: is the number of lines important? (Example: a part of the original dialog consists of five lines, but the German translation has eight lines.)
Also: is the length important?
Example: string = Long Gun,"Long Gun" (May the translation of this example be longer than eight letters?)

2) .../resource/ini/texts/english/interface_strings:
I have no idea how to translate a lot of things here. The problem is that nouns in German have a certain gender and this influences articles and adjectives. Examples:
a{a}
a broken{a broken}
... etc.
Which context are these words used in? One or two examples would be useful especially for "a" (because this can mean anything).

See above. Who or what? A ship or a person?

has been sunk by{has been sunk by}
has been sunk by the{has been sunk by the}
Context? Difference?

3) .../resource/ini/texts/english/common.cfg
- string = sw_portuguese,"Portuguese"
...
In general the same problems as in #2. Context of "Portuguese" (e.g. "portuguese wine" or a citizen of Portugal or...)?

4) I copied my translated dialog files to the proper location but when I play the game the tutorial dialog (Malcolm) is somehow mixed up. A part of his advices appear as clickable answers and vice versa. Is this a known issue or did I make a mistake somewhere?
