Total ship replacement?

AlexusB has given us permission to use whatever we wish from their mods in our modding of POTC, so there could be some new ships - just have to have someone or several someones work on getting them into the game. I think there's one person working on one ship model right now that looks awesome. It's not a 17th century ship (it's much later), but it has a lot of the details we're all looking for...<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there, mates

Yeah, the LuggerVML seems to work fine, at least no one has reported any problems, and Pieter has now included it in his latest Mod Pack Update. However, the crew walk file is still incompatible. So we still need someone to create a new one for this ship. I don't have a 3D modelling program with which to do so. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Any volunteers? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" />

Haven't found any other similar models yet but I'll keep looking. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

And brig isn´t ship from 17th century but I think brigs first time appeared in 18th century. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

So that if would be history strictly respected only few types of ships would remain here and it wouldn´t be really good. The game would be deprived of all those great ships which they are now. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

ah m8. its all about WHEN in the 17th century, and brigs actually did make their first apperance in the late 1600's. there were plenty of diffrent merchant vessels and warships in the 17th century. even some in a man-o-war like fashion, but i think the original topic has strayed here, to being absolutley accurate. but what i like to see is ships with the right design and apperance, stock ships just are either too modernish some of them and just to many guns <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there matey,

I'm on the job looking for more ships. Might see if ALexusB can help us out there.

Try this link to the Russian AoP site. You'll need to download and install all the files linked on the page for the full game to work. An English translation patch is currently being tested and should be available soon.

Hi, Mark. Although it isn´t too much important for me, anyway I would like to see any link or evidence the brigs started to use at the end of 17th century because it is interesting and new information for me. I was convinced brigs was developed in 18th century. I know there were man of war types of ships in 17th century for example Sovereign of the Seas and Solei Royal. But by their contruction those two ships were still galleons although very large, very expensive, highly decorated and very powerful with about 100 cannons. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I think i have a mention in one of my pirates book, memory isnt clear, but i do have some readily avaible info here

Interesing information, Mark. I like something like that. All the situation with development of a new types of ships in the course of ages is all a little hazy and uncleared. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Btw speaking of man-o-war type ships of the 17th century i do recall doing research of swedish naval history, in 1672 there was a flagship for the swedish navy called Kronan, not shure if she would be classed as a galleon or not but her design was very man-o-war like. tripple gun decks and a total of 126 guns and crewed by 800 men.

She was given to under command of a nobody that had been loyal to the king, a totally inexperienced person, both in seamanship and military. it ended with the flagship keeling over and exploding, why? because the admiral apperantly was pursued by a dutch warship(i think it was dutch) and he was going to come about, but he never gave the order to close the lower gunports. thus water poured in and she keeled over heavily and a lamp is beleived to have come off the hook in the pouder magazine when that happend <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

heres a small site about her

I seems to me Sweeden wasn´t too experienced seafarers in those times although they should be because of the Viking tradition. The lost of the Vassa and this ship had to be really very unpleasant and painful for them. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

well sweden was quite a good naval power, when they didnt bunlge it all.

the Vasa was lost due to construction fault, (the king just wanted more and more guns and a super sleek ship, so never let the kind decided lol)
