Just bought the game and had an hours play and find the game very good!
Like to know your experience with the game! Characters even talk!! The Sailing
and sea battles are a bid crude, but it has a story to follow! Not like that AoP game!! Another good thing is it can be installed without the protection software (Tages) if you get yourself the NoCD patch! Same here. Never played it though. The crudeness of the sea battles is a trademark of Ascaron unfortunately.

Still playing it, Nosie? Is the game still holding your interest? Sometimes those games can be addicting at first but then quickly grow tiresome. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Fighting on board ship and land ok, but Sea battles are cartoon stuff! Not anywhere near PotC or AoP! It has a good story to follow! Don't think they be selling to many! Very easy to install without the "Protection" software! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />
 
the tortuga that i have is really repetetive. it usually get's boring after 20 minutes when you have a galleon. before that, your main goal is to get a better ship. then it's hunting pirates. then it's taking over every town in the caribbean for a nation, but all this is exactly the same every time, so it's really boring.
 
Here's a <a href="http://pc.ign.com/articles/776/776310p1.html" target="_blank">review</a> I've found on it. I myself don't like locked in linear story lines for the most part. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />
 
i can't believe i'm saying this, but it looks like a fun play-once-in-a-while game. it's just the things in this game that you can't do in others that make it fun, like step in your dinghy in the middle of a battle, sail to the enemy ship, plant an explosive, and GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE. saving your crew that gets blasted overboard before they get eaten up is a nice feature too. one thing i like is that every seperate part of your ship has it's own hp. but overall, the game's not that good.
 
Played the Demo and have to agree with Morgan, the game very quicky got boring, to arcadish for my tastes. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
 
Hey guys I'm trying to get this game to work on my computer .I got it to run just fine until I finished the first land mission ,then it locked up my computer and it wouldn't work at all after that .I noticed Nosie mentioned there was a no cd patch for it ,but I can't find any patches for it other than the two Tages patches on the official site and those came with the version I have .Looks as if the parent company has pretty much abandoned this game for dead. Just wondering if there is a fan site or whatever where I can get some help on it.
 
I guess nobody knows anything about this game huh ? Oh well it didn't look that great anyways
 
Morgan Terror might still play the game, but he's gone for at least another week. There is a working no-CD patch for the v1.0 of the game, but I don't know about later versions <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
 
Know where I can find that patch Stallion? Might help, you never know.
 
It all depends what kind of game you like. Most people here prefer more realistic (Akella Style) Pirate Games. so they wouldn't like games like Ascaron Pirate Games (or even Sid Meier's Pirates).

Ascaron Pirate Games (except Port Royale, which is a great and complex trading game with Pirates, not a real Pirate itself) are games to play in lunchbrakes or for the quick short game after work.
If you want a deeper gaming experience, stick with AoP.
