You neet Microsoft .Net Passport for the thing to work, Cap'n. Could that be it?

After about half a year of fooling around I'm finally almost ready to start releasing new characters for download. It's taking a heck of a lot of time to make new portraits and head models for them, and my snags just now are that the head models of mixed characters use the face of one guy but not the right body, so they look bad from the `neck-down`. I don't see any other references to skins in the .gm's. And I design a `128-size` portrait but it doesn't show up on my "ship" screen, where I think the captain's picture is supposed to go. Haven't tried it with officers yet.

(Also, being unable to download B12 till a full programme is put together, I'm modding on the barebones version of the game, so I don't know yet about compatibility.)

My first releases, if the FTP's had the space cleared up yet, will be Captain Hook and a sort of spy.

I think to get the portrait to show, you have to make a "facemaker" number for it - have you done that (and the facemaker is DIFFERENT in B12, so you will have to change it) yet?
 
I think Microsoft has it on their homepage. It's a free download of around 20 megs, I do believe.

Modding on the OOTB form of the game now, to prevent complications. I numbered the three dufferent sized portraits all "head_99," (or face, whichever is right)... but is there another step I missed?

I think there is an internet link to it in the Help.htm file that comes with the Exporter.

I'm noticing that most of the heads don't match up well with other bodies.

The necks are too short, or part of the head or face in Blaze's case are missing or are stuck to the bodies.

The only thing thing I was able to do, struggling with a trial program which will run out soon
was this version of "Lisatowngirl4"
It was a challenge to get towngirl4's hair off of the back of the dress and that was done by just
deleating vertices. I'm good at that!

Going back to just tweaking textures, this is what I think a dishonest but neat merchant might look like.
Note the earring only visible when he turns his head right.

About .Net: What you need to run the tool is the .Net *framewrok*, which is a runtime environment like the java virtual machine. It's got noting to do with .Net passport.

There is a link to it in the tool's helpfile.

Wasn't too hard to do.
The coat and shirt were from the French harbor master.
I just changed the colors and sharpened it a bit.

Boots came from Blaze.

Hardest part was getting more beard on the guy and
adding and getting the earring to show!
