Time Compression Key?

Ahoy mates! First post here. Before anything, allow me to comment on the quality of the information contained within all the forums. Who figured a bunch a pirates would be so helpful?


Question: I know the time compression key is suppossed to be "R"

I have also read that it can be the "X" key. Neither work for me. I am unable to time compress...any ideas?

Are you playing the unmodified POTC? Its been a while, but I seem to recall that pressing the asterix key,"*", over the num pad would speed me up in the original game. Let us know...

Yar...it be the original. Sounds like the new builds are incredible, but I want to get my feet wet with the unmodded verson first. (Or would you recommend otherwise?) I was a big fan of the original Sea Dogs- and of course of Sid Meyer's Pirates! back in the day.

I'm pretty sure that's right, again it's been a while. I would say check the manual, but I remember the manual being wrong or unhelpful most of the time.

I'm inclined to say that you have it right playing the game unmodified and then adding the the build and starting a new game, I'm hearing there's a Build 12 in the works and it might time out that it's ready around the time you're ready to try it. There are others who disagree strongly with this point of view, however, and will tell you that unmodified POTC is a waste of time, but I think it only enhances the experience and gives you a greater appreciation for the modders who devoted their time and energy to make the game better.

With your game background, Seadogs, and Pirates, you'll fit right in around here.

Howler, I am with Sir Christopher on this - play the unmodded game first, and you will then appreciate the modifications all the more... It's also good practice - you'll familiarize yourself with what to do and where to go in the game, and things will be much less overwhelming when you finally DO get to installing Build 11.0. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Excellent! The * key works wonderfully. I managed to get broadsided by a Corvette even quicker with it's use! Thanks again for all the help...as well as the hearty pirate welcome! Good hunting to you...and I think I'll check out the mod when Build 12 comes out. Having TOO much fun with this version anyway- eventhough my crew just dissappeared entirely...for which I will search the forums for answers. (In Oxbay- after spying on the French)
