Three new graphic mods

Welcome to the forum, Holly! Rum's on me! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

What about the "Leon & Castille" flag for the Spanish? It may not be historically correct, but it´s what I´ve grown up with, playing Pirates! Gold, and, yes, I am something of a nostalgic.
As well, I´d like to have my character to have the look of the Adventurer or Swashbuckler picture from Pirates! Gold.

Yeah, as for the brightness of the pants, I may do that soon. But I've spent more time making mods than playing. I'm going to play a bit, then maybe darken them up this weekend if I get a chance (with Christmas coming and all spare time is becoming sparce).

As for the winged hourglass, I understand what the symbol meant, but no one ever explained why it was stuck on half my sails. It is, also, on the flags of the Montalban/Raymondo types in the game I believe. I think it has something to do with your family heritage and all that, but since it was never explained in the opening scenes I would rather have it off.

Also, in the opening scenes, apparently you're Dutch, or some neighbors of yours are, as there's a Dutch flag flying from a staff in front of one of the houses as the camera zooms in on your house.

As for the old Castille & Leon flag, in the Spanish taverns, that is in deed on the wall. I always sort of thought of that as an old flag (like going into a bar and seeing an out of date flag for nostalgic purposes). But I suppose I could mod one and let people use it. It is a cool looking flag and horribly recognizeable in the game. I like historical accuracy and all but the Spanish flag a) looks too much like the English flag but B) unlike the English flag I find the Spanish St. Anthony's flag to be a tad . . . how shall I put this? Not attractive.

If you want to see the old Pirates! Gold "Spanish" flag, I made a new flagpack that includes that flag instead of the St. Anthony's Cross one:

Check it out over at the new thread:

Fab,

My apologies; I must have miscommunicated myself in my post. The point I failed to make was the winged hourglass was more commonly used by pirates than the skull and crossbones <i>(we can thank Robert Lewis Stevenson for their somewhat stereotypical association with all pirates)</i>. Since your character is a pirate in the game, the winged hourglass appears on your sails regardless of the flag you're sailing under. It has nothing to do with family heritage or Montalban/Raymondo. It's purpose in the game is inherantly implied much the same as the Jolly Roger's purpose is implied. Nevertheless, while it is cool to have it on the sails, I so much more prefer your blank sail. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> Thanks for that!

Ah, good old times coming back. Have a <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> on my account

I understand what you're saying Holly. Though I would also offer that who's to say I want to be a pirate? In my current game, I'm privateering all the way. Or in one game I tried (and gave up on) I was a peaceful trader (after one unfortunate incident when I had to steal a large fluyt becuase no one sells them).

But I do think it was put there in the game as some sort of family `tie-in`. Raymondo and Montalban both have it in their personal flag, and since you are out for vengeance (in a ship named <i>Revenge</i>) I think it was a family thing, to remind you of your true purpose on the Spanish Main.

But you're right, it is a pirate emblem from the period. I just didn't want one on my sails all the time! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I am glad you mentioned it though. While you and I may know a bit about real life pirates, a lot of people may not and it's good to pass along what info we do know. The internet's not just about downloading pictures of Brittney, everyone know that, right? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Black Sails?

Hey Fab,
I love your removal of the winged top sail, but do you have a Mod that can make all the sails black? I have one that makes the main sail black but the others are still white.
Please let me know.

Thanks,
-Brian

I don't think you can. I think only the mainsail is moddable. The other sails use plain white. Which means if someone can get into the code it might be possible, but for a regular graphic modder, I think they can't be changed.
