The rescued admiral's son (Lucas) does not add to my crew

Hi,

I bought PotC two days ago and played it quite a lot since then. However, I have encountered a problem with the quest in which I have to rescue the son of the admiral. I completed the mission and got back to him, my problem is that the son accepts to enroll in my crew but he never appears in the passengers' list so I cannot make him an officer.

1) Am I the only one who experienced this problem?

2) Are we limited to 4 passengers? I have already 4 passengers, 3 of them being my officers.

Thanks a lot for your help. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there and welcome aboard, matey.

Have you been back to the Admiral on Isla Muelle? From memory I think you actually need to go back and talk to Lucas' father, the Admiral, to complete the quest and then Lucas will become a selectable member of your crew.

Also: Just to be sure, make sure you have one free officer slot before you take him with you. Are you using the Build 12 modpack at all? If not, you should get it. It fixes silly bugs like this and adds a lot more features.

Ok, I've downloaded Build 12 but before installing it, can I ask you this : will I still be able to load my saved game after patching? Or will it make the saved games unloadable?

Thanks,

You will need to start a new game. This is no major drawback though. So much good stuff was added, that it'll be great fun to start all over again. Added plus: The game doesn't stop when you sunk the Black Pearl, but you can continue. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
If you don't want to lose your current savegame, play the game out without the mods, then, after that, install the mods and start all over again. It'll be like a whole new game. And, once the Post Build 12 mods have been made into a Build 13, that will be like a whole new game yet again! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> You wrote exactly what I was expecting! So, I will continue with my current game!

I've got two more questions, if you don't mind :

- Yesterday evening, I tried to sell my linen ("lin" in french) to the smugglers (I think that's the correct word) on Douwesen's coast. But it seems that they only sell... Is it possible that the smugglers buy something from me?

- So, I wanted to leave because I had no money. Unfortunately, some soldiers arrived, asking what we were doing here. Well, me and my officers killed everyone. Then, when leaving the bay, 2 dutch frigates were waiting for me! I was almost sure that I would die. But after almost 1 hour, I managed to sink tham with my "Corvette", it was 36 cannons against 2 x 44 cannons. I was awarded about 11000 points for each frigate, so I was very happy. However, before the fight, I also had a Brig, with a highly skilled captain who was following me since the beginning of the game, and who was useful to me. Do you think that I should reload my saved game (before the fight) in order not to lose my Brig? Or is it acceptable to lose a boat sometimes, if it can help to level up? I don't know what to do. Right now, I am level 10, but my Corvette is almost a wreck and I don't have any money to repair it.

For all I know, smugglers should only buy from you. I didn't even know they could sell.
You have to choose what you want to do with your brig. I can't really say if it's better to reload or continue. You'll have to figure out for yourself. You can try reloading and then, when it doesn't work, continue from the save where the brig was sunk.

I think you get the option to buy stuff from the smugglers after you have finished the previous transaction. You ask them whether they have any useful over there (their stash) you could buy. Never tried it however.

As to whether to reload...your choice really. I kept reloading to avoid losing officers when getting into fights with the guards...until deciding it wasn't very realistic and that there are loads of officers for hire anyway.
It is often I find quite useful to get into fights with the coast guards...if you win they often leave top-notch stuff, and they have nice ships to board. O'course the coastguards don't always turn up...

Poor as dirt? Knackered boat (er..ship)? A pirates life for me?
