Ahoy, me Hearties,

You all heard of the notorious pirate Captain Samuel "Black Sam" Bellamy who was an English pirate in the early 18th century.

In 1982 an underwater explorer Barry Clifford discovered a shipwreck 20 miles off the coast of Cape Cod. In 1985 he recovered the ship's bell - "The Whydah Gally 1716".

Now, conservationists at the Whydah Pirate Museum in West Yarmouth have discovered “part of a skeleton of a crew member,” said Chris Macort, an archaeologist and director of the museum’s ship exhibition.

Now the scientist in Massachusetts will soon know if the bones discovered belong to the notorious pirate.

Am I the only one that thinks it's a little distasteful to display the bones of anybody? Personally I think if those are Samuel Bellamy's bones they should be laid to rest next to Goody Hallett.

Understandable, I suppose... But there are a LOT of bones on display throughout the world!

Cool... Would definitely like an update on this. Hope they find out whose bones they are!

It's a hell of a long shot as to whether the remains are Bellamy's. DNA will tell the tale, if there's any viable material left at all to test.

I ran across this late last night. It would seem the mass burial site of Bellamy's crew has been found: America's largest mass pirate burial ground uncovered after 300 years
