You ought to see the new copyright law the government unveiled this morning - it effectively eliminates our right to file-sharing (even for open-source, freely distributed software) or even making backup copies of stuff we legally purchased, as well as putting a 5-day restriction on items taken out from libraries. If a library ignores this, they'll be fined some idiotic amount (something like $20,000 per incident).
This effectively means if I download an average music CD from a P2P network, I'll end up in jail for at least 40.5 years <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blink:" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

my internet is acting fishy. the fast reply button doesn't work anymore and on the nox eternis forums clicking an emoticon won't make it show up in the reply box.
we're in the middle of a minor tropical storm. it's really wierd. first there where low temperatures with soaking rain and wind from the east, and now it's dry, warm, with wind from the west. it was completely calm in between.5920
The stuff about the copyright law was on all of our news channels last night and this morning - not surprisingly, the two business-owned stations claim the law is great (and found some shitty Canadian Idol musicians, who just happen to be property of Sony, to back this up), while the CBC (which is funded by the government), claims Canada is fast becoming a police state <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> .
And a couple days ago, the government had some kind of official apology for the mistreatment of all the Indians who were placed in government run schools, where they were abused and never taught their own cultures. An hour after this was spoken, a Conservative MP was heard on the radio saying that the Indians were good for nothing and needed to learn the value of real work. well, we found the problem. my D drive crapped out. it's working again, but it turns out internet works pretty badly without any cookies. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> it's now running on 65MB RAM. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> well, we now know which RAM card works, at least. now we're going to see which other ones work and build onward from there. the USB link is still offline though. i think the main boxy thingy is falling apart. it's probably the power supply which also processes all the data flows. here's something funny: i just discovered that this thing is dual core. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> i oficially have the crappiest dual core computer in the world! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />5922

The English exam I did yesterday was allowed to be typed on a computer, so I opted for that. Turned out the laptop I was assigned to was a never-used, quad-core HP with Vista on it, a 250GB hard drive, and 2GB of RAM - shit, was that thing ever fast! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

yup. few more years and i'll be playing pong. it used to be 128. sure, it said it was 3XX, but i know it wasn't. and my dad just told me he put 500 in it. let's review: he put 5XX MB RAM in it. 3XX was actually detected. and 128 MB actually <i>worked</i>.
