the Black Pearl 2.0

i never said you should kill him, just threaten him a little. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

and remember to call yourself guido and bring a violin case. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

you may not knwo ti, but you already have it. you only need to activate it in code. i don't know how though.

This boat is in Build 13 Update 3 and Build 14 Alpha 6. She is set to not-encounterable and not-buyable though, so you can never get her. Except when you "cheat" a bit by setting her as starting ship in PROGRAM\InternalSettings.h, for example. Codename: "theBlackPearl".

but you CAN replace the current black pearl at the ending with this one! which i, in fact, did.

I'm missing something then, the black pearl in my game seems to have a shorter quarter-deck and three ship boats on the main deck rather than the gratings that seem to appear in the picture in the first post of this thread. Are you sure that they are the same models? Or are their two models in build 14-6?

There are two models:
1) Original stock game Black Pearl: Is black, but has nothing to do with the film version (code name: "BlackPearl")
2) Kazeite's version: Proper version (code name: "theBlackPearl")

Number 2 isn't yet used in the game. You need to "cheat" to get her.

I use 14 alpha 6 and I went into PROGRAM/Ships/Shipsinit.txt and scrolled down for an eternity until I found the Black Pearl entry. I then altered a few lines in the text so that i could buy it in a shipyard. If i am right this is Kazeite's new and improved version. I could be wrong though.

so ya know if ya want to do the interceptor, the ship that played the interceptor was the brig Lady Washington. the ship I'm waiting to get on as a volunteer crewmember for 2 weeks of training =D so ya can get lots of pics of her easily.

Oh my god.

Really? You are going on board of <i>Lady Washington</i>? Thats excellent! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />

However, the thing I'd like to see the most are ships plans. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

it's the plan man. I got the tuition ready to pay, just need to get a letter from the doctor saying I'm physically capable of doing it and then finish the application process then it's only a matter of time waiting for a bunk to open up.

Lady Washington is ideal that way, a lot of the other ships require you to be a member of a museum and have so many hours donated to just maintaining the ship, before they'll take ya on as a volunteer crewman. wich means ya gotta live by it. Most of them it's about luck really, Lady Washington is the surest bet for me.

My plan is to bust my ass for the two weeks I'm on board, get in the good graces of hte captain and hopefully a letter of recommendation. I might apply for another two weeks or something to get more experience but the idea is just to get enough experience sailing under my belt that I could try to sign on as a professional crewman on one of hte many other tall ships out there. Even my state of Wisconsin has a state flagship, a Schooner named the Denis Sullivan. She sails throughout the great lakes, and both oceans with a team of scientists studying everything from weather and global warming to coral reefs and different cultures. She's actually in Key West at the moment. Now that would be the ideal ship for me. Cruising the world carting a bunch of scientists around would be freaken awesome. anyways, I'll let ya all know when I get solid dates. At this point I keep telling myself, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when, and a matter of whenthe time comes if I can stay focused and deal with the hardship and the work.

Good luck with your endeavour, then <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

The <i>Lady Washington</i>?! You lucky... well I can't say that word!

My dream is to join the USN, and captain "Old Ironsides". It would be an honor! But if not, then the <i>Constellation</i>. Either way, I intend to serve on one of the Navy's old square-riggers. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

they're cool, if I hadn't had to save all my money for Lady Washington, I'd be spending it on trips to Constitution and Constelation. and yes it would be an honour merely to crew the ship much more to be captain. Good Luck with that. And actually you might have a better chance with the Constellation, I don't even think ya need to be in the navy for that, they got a dedicated group of reinactors over there.

oh btw you might like this pic. i do a lot of digging around the internet for various old pictures of tall ships while they were still in service.

this photo is a waterfront scene at Portsmouth in 1886. from the left to the very far right in the distance, USS Constellation, USS Dale, USS Tallapoosa and way off to the right, those masts belong to USS Constitution.

pretty freaken sweet huh? the photo is housed ath the US Naval Historical Center btw.

<img src="http://www.history.navy.mil/photos/images/h58000/h58947.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

anyways, as cool as the Constellation and Constitution are, and as much as I love those ships, (especially Constitution wich has had some pretty wild adventures and a completely perfect war record, if ya thought the movie master and commander is cool, well the Constitution pulled off stunts like that on a regular basis, points to the famous low speed chase between 5 british man-of-wars and the Constitution, without any wind! She used her boats to pull her and they threw her anchor out in front of her and then reeled it in like a fishing line pulling her forward so as to stay just out of range of their guns till a breeze came) I really want to be an active Sailor. I mean I considered volunteering at San Diego Maritime Museum, the ones that own the Californian, Star of India and HMS Surprise from the movie, originally HMS Rose, but they just sail around the harbor. I want to sail on the open ocean the way they're meant to, and if I can handle it, possibly even make it a career.

I really do have my own fears that I won't be able to handle it, considering having asperger's syndrome, but I know that i'd hate myself more for never making the attempt at my dream than I will if it just blows up in my face <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Yeah. Kedging! Just like Lucky Jack did to the <i>Acheron</i>! it was insane. Can you imagine the Admiralty?
"You lost her?"
"Aye, Sir. She put out her cutters and started kedging. There was no wind and we were not able to close with her."
"You had five ships to their one, man! They'll be making their headlines, no doubt. And all those young upstarts will find it a most entertaining thing!"
"I am sorry, Admiral..."

In the book, <u>The Far Side of the World</u>, the enemy was originally the Americans, but Hollywood decided that we wouldn't like that... Oh well. The books are always better! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

I too wouldn't mind serving on an active vessel, like the <i>Grand Turk</i> or something of that sort, but there is something amazing about serving on the oldest comissioned warship in the world to be afloat, her physical beauty, and war record are mind boggling! And well, I'd much rather prefer to doff my hat to the Star Spangled Banner rather than a Union Jack aboard the <i>Turk</i>. Hey, does the <i>Niagara</i> get about or is she a coast hugger?

i had a wooden model of the USS constitution not so long ago. it was in a pretty sorry state though. i got it from someone who had it lying on his attic for so long that the tarred ropes had simply disintegrated. it now has somehow ended up in Latvia.
