Stuck on Dutch Gambit for the West India company

I captured the Mirage and now I'm supposed to go to St John's on Antigua to meet with the chemist to get the name of the informant . I've read all the information I can find on steam and here about this and what I gather is that I'm supposed to talk to Charlie Knipple in the shack by the port , well every time I try to talk to him he says "Chain shot to my back , what do you want mister ?" and the only response I have is "no , it's nothing , I'm leaving" I am Rank 14 with 35 navigation skill which I had to reload a very old save to get as I read on steam you had to be below rank 15 and to have above 30 navigation skill so you could talk to him but still I don't have the option . I've tried to talk to him during the day and during the night with no change as well . I've already worked my way up to this point in the game twice and I get the same result each time

What am I supposed to do from this point on ?
Where is John Murdock ?

I haven't done the west india company path myself, but ;

Getting to John is tricky for anyone who first play SD:TEHO,
follow the underground, till you find a hole in the wall, you'll be able to enter his house,

also from what i've read, you NEED to moor in a bay near st-johns to avoid suspicion. Knippel might not trigger the conversation knowing that your ship is in town ?

Yes I've tried the dungeon as well , the drugstore is locked and I can't get in it through the wine cellar (I've done it so much infact that I've memorized the way through the dungent to get to the wine cellar) . I have moored at Faulmouth cove and not at Cape Boon (if moor at Cape Boon the Brits will be alerted by the ship and think of you as a spy) Still don't have an option to talk to Knippel .

John murdock, the druggist is the one that direct you to Knippel, no use talking to that last one just yet, but i'm certainly out of words concerning the drugstore, both the exterior door and wine cellar door are locked ?

Did you try going trough the main door during the day/night ?
With all those loadings/savings, some way back than others, are you sure you didn't miss important steps in some of them ? or even the quest not updating properly ?
For any dutch gambit path's / or even before it, as long as there are no specific triggers, the drugstore is always open to anyone, with john standing in his corner.

PS : concerning your first post, the requirements** you stated are for the england path, WIC has none. If you got a save to go back where you were in the first place, you should still be fine, that's not the issue. ( - rank 15 / 30 navigation )**

PS II : If nothing works, and I truly mean, nothing. I would dare backing up my SD:TEHO with any modded files, make steam check for any missing files, then copy back your original folder over.

Thank you Xtasy , So after 2 days of searching it turns out I just had to talk to Murdock first , I found the drug store in front of the residence (The gray cobbled building) It was unlocked , John Murdock inside in the corner like you described and he told me to talk to Knippel .
