Strange Monk

T

the pirate

Guest
In Conceicao outskirts (the main city, not the smugglers lair) there is a strange looking monk who is lvl 1 with 800 hp. After I've noticed this, I killed him and I "revealed his true nature". A maltese skeleton attacked me and I killed him. He said something about a great reward and a blue cloud arose. I got about 5000xp and my reputation decreased from rascal to bloody terror. Now what the .... was that??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

That IS weird. You're not supposed to kill those monks; you should talk to them. They can offer you skill enhancements at the penalty of not being able to save until you talk to another monk.

And they're not supposed to be Maltese Knights either. Apparently the code for the Maltese Knight Abbey in Greenford also takes effect for these monks. It wasn't meant to do that though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

hehe...you can get a reason to attack him however. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> first time that happened i was utterly flabbergasted. it was like when i apologised: it's ok...here, you can have your sword back. i was like: wha...HUH? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> i hadn't even noticed it was missing! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

What the hell are you talking about????

try insulting him. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> badly. use the worst (and likely funniest) option.

He can't do that. He already killed him! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

oh..yeah. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> silly me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> well, there are plenty of them around.

Killing peaceful monks ? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

The check that triggers the Maltese monk resurrection checks for the monk3 model, and Scheffnow's monks happen to have the same model.

One could set Scheffnow's guys to immortal, as their death could break the no-save mod. OTH I don't know if it is worth the effort. Anyone who kills them should live with some divine punishment.

How can I get my skills enhanced?? He was talking some ridiculous stuff about the sword and the feather and I told him that he looks like a sack of potatoes and then killed him LOL <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

The second time I told him that the feather was stronger than the sword and he asked me why didn't I have a feather instead of a sword???

yes....and what would be the obvious next action? the third option! right! as long as there are more monks than options, you should get it done sometime. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> what i find a bit wierd is that your sword should be missing when you insult him. stupid freaky potato-monk. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="<_<" border="0" alt="dry.gif" /> the wierd thing is is that your sword apparently wasn't missing, as you killed him.

I don't know anything about missing swords <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

But why the heart? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />

wha? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

by the way, the reason you don't know about missing swords is probably because you, like me, never noticed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> but it might be a bug. it's wierd that you could still kill him afterwards.

I was thinking those monks that turns to skeletons when they die were evil heretics part of a dangerous sect! And I kept killing them - with one poisoned dagger, for no lose of reputation (-1 each time you hit an unarmed person), or by making them steal a worn dagger before the fight. Oh my. So they were REAL monk? They weren't some maltese knights escaped from the Abaye? Well may them rest in peace, I'm going to give extra money to the church...

That strange because I'm quite sure there is a guy, in Turks islands I think, that have 800 hp and turns to a skeleton when he's killed but who haven't got the weard monk model. He's guarding the town.

I don't think it's a good idea. Besides, the less immortal guys, the better the game. I would prefer that if you kill one of the monk, the others will never give you a 'holy' relic.

Again, I don't agree. I don't like those kind of punishement because they can break a game really easely - like the stupid idea of a merchant guild that I have been complening about, today I was killed once more because of this silly trigger. So no divine punishement please, and no loose of reputation - most of the time nobody can see what you've done as the monks are most of the time in desert places.

Morgan terror, the weard monk doesn't always steal your weapons, it depends on what you tell them. That's why he didn't take the pirate's weapon.

Don't worry, what I tried to say was that I see no need to do anything about this "bug".

oops...that's an elaborate mistake! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> that kind of monk is in the SECOND layer of the maltese abbey. try walking around in the first layer, especially along the edges. note: if a monk robs you and runs away, he disappears through the entrance to the second layer.

i know he doesn't steal your sword every time, but he should if you would do what he did.

or you could kill him. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> with another sword of course.
