Downloaded this game 8 hours ago,,,POTC for pc,install seems fine...but whenever i try to press start new game it's loading then error pop out,
ENGINE.EXE and something about dx8render.dll

yeah I know either directx or sp2 or graphic card or etc etc probs,

Tried to reinstall directx 9, can't coz it said u are using something something newer version directx something
tried to download dx8render.dll from somewhere ( i forgot where coz it's 6 hours ago and i haven't got my sleep yet it's 9.32am now)
replace the dx8render.dll but still no luck on that...same engine and dx8render.dll error pop out when start the game...
try find save file and load it...result is still the same...

really stress...then uninstall...search for new installer...found b14_beta1_full
reinstall potc and install build 14 all good there...the cmd pop out and said to press continue copy something...done...
all good...at the main menu...kneeing and pray to god...do a oompa lompa dance...then press start new game...(pick jack sparrow xD)
orz orz orz orz the engine prob and dx8 pop out again....read the FAQ...try the solutions there...not working...read the pc spec...i think im good there...i guess...

:gday matey!

A Mac eh? Well, POTC is self contained so it should be ok. Does the stock POTC without any mods run? That is the place to start. DX9 is compatible with DX8, so that is not the problem.

Your video card(s) is/are confusing me. Are you using the ATI 6750M or the Intel graphics? POTC has problems with Intel graphics. If that is what you are using, then you need Swiftshader. Swiftshader is far from perfect but it does allow POTC to run with intel graphics.

stock POTC doesn't run, have the same prob..engine and even after installed build in still the same... :urgh

That is the Mac Graphic/Display show, the only different is the bus, AMd = PCie and intel hd = build in :shrug

ill try the swifshader and will post again if it not working :dance

tried swifshader with build 14 and still got the error, tried swifshader with fresh stock work fine but at some random points the error will pop out again, mostly it work just fine ^^ thx :onya

Progress!:beer

More questions:

Can you disable Intel and just use the ATI? POTC would run much better.

There is something called ffdshow that messes with POTC. If you have it you may be able to create an exception for POTC, or just delete it like I did.

Did you install POTC into "program files"? That is a nono because security issues arise.

Can you enable error logs?

I don't think i can, well i tried it with my other laptop(with ati) and yeah it smoother. But still have random Engine.exe crash, especially if use fast travel to the port.

Yeah i've ffdshow install, but i also have it installed in my other laptop( the 1 with ati) and doesn't have any prob with it ( beside fast travel to the port, it will give engine.exe)

nope, read that issues before so i installed it to my desktop

Can you enable error logs?
may i know how?

Also keep in mind Brandon, that as far as i know, you may be the only person to try to play the Build Mod on a Mac! So i hope it goes smooth for you, but we may not be able to help much as your going into 'terra nova'(there be monsters here!). Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes.
